November Newsletter
Scaling impact, one life at a time.

November was a phenomenal month, we directly trained and supported 467 youth entrepreneurs through the different program activities. We also welcomed new partners and enjoyed media features that increased our brand visibility and credibility.

We trained 100 creatives in personal development, financial literacy and business modeling. It was an impactful workshop where participants walked away with tangible tools, solutions, and strategies to enable them to thrive in their trades.

55 youths successfully completed the financial education course offered in partnership with International Labour Organisation. The participants gained skills and tools to manage their personal and business finances effectively.

Our Community leaders collectively trained and supported 312 youth entrepreneurs across seven districts of Uganda. 305 of these are running active micro and small businesses that serve the needs of their communities.

Below is a summary of the Business Plus ICT program activities for the month of November.

Business Plus ICT
Our Community Leaders continue to relentlessly train and support youth entrepreneurs in their communities every month. In November, they collectively trained 312 youth running micro and small businesses. 81% of the youth trained are women which is a great representation considering many times women are left out of business and capacity-building programs. The Community Leaders collectively invested +600 hours in training and follow-up activities for the youth they serve.

Beneficiary Testimonials

My name is Priscilla Achom, a Monitoring & Evaluation specialist. For a very long time I feared to invest in any business for fear that it would quickly collapse because of competition with other entrepreneurs however, because of the training, I picked on the courage to start up my produce shop and I believe that with the skills I have attained in this training my business can only advance. Kyusa taught me never to be intimidated by other competitors regardless of how ambiguous and established their businesses seem but to stay focused on growing my business while offering quality services to my customers. I am grateful to Kyusa for the business tips and skills, I have been able to grow my business and increase customers within a short space of time. I have also started supplying Gnuts to nearby Restaurants and shops. The program has indeed been of great support to my Business.

I am optimistic about the future of PRISSY PRODUCE because Kyusa opened my eyes to the possibilities. Two years from now I envision this business as the one stock shopping center for Gnuts in the whole of Soroti region and also becoming a major supplier for other stores. I encourage other young and potential entrepreneurs to sign up for the Kyusa training and be equipped with skills on how to successfully start and grow your businesses”

Financial Education Training
Kyusa in partnership with International Labour Organisation (ILO) Prospects facilitated three cohorts of financial education classes that were attended by 55 youth collectively. 49 youths successfully completed the training and were awarded certificates of attendance. 48% of the participants were women and 52% were men. 38% of the participants were entrepreneurs running small businesses, 38% are employed in the informal sector, 20% are students and 3% are unemployed.

Below are some testimonials from the training:
Sheilla is 19 years old, a student and a poultry farmer. She attended the financial education training and shared how the knowledge gained helped her identify the sources of financial leakages in her life/ business.
Voppen attended cohort 2 of the financial education training series and he shares how it changed his life and mindset about financial management.
Yvette attended the Financial Education training and among the many skills she gained, she learnt about will writing for the very first time. She regretted that this knowledge had not been passed on to her much earlier in life and is happy that she will share the same knowledge with people in her sphere.
Creatives Training
Kyusa in partnership with Netstudios Africa facilitated a two-day workshop for 100 creatives. The workshop covered three main topics - personal development, financial literacy and business model canvas. By the end of the training participants had completed personal growth plans, saving plans and business model canvas for their ventures. We intend to continue working alongside Netstudios to support the creatives to thrive.
New Partners

We were approved as fully paid-up members of Private Sector Foundation Uganda. We were also invited to attend the AGM 2022 where we got to meet other members of PSFU. It is a great growth and networking opportunity for Kyusa.

We partnered with Netstudios Africa to offer business development support services to creatives to enable them to thrive at the personal and business level. Oftentimes Creatives fail to prosper in their ventures due to a lack of appropriate business structures and support. That is the basis for this partnership.
