KEEPING IT CIVIL:
USING MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING TO SURVIVE THANKSGIVING DINNER
The Election- Black Lives Matter- Wearing a Mask or Not
Are you nervous about holiday get-togethers?
Are you dreading the arguments that are coming for you at Thanksgiving?
The political polarization of our national may be enough to make the holidays a mental health challenge for even the best of us!
Using Motivational Interviewing (MI) won't solve all the issues, but it might provide you with helpful skills to communicate with your family, mend some tears, and protect your sanity along the way.
MI is a collaborative conversation style that promotes more positive interactions. It focuses on being empathetic , non-judgmental, and supportive- which helps to create a safe space for individuals to consider their opinions and think about their beliefs without arguing.
This 3-hour workshop is great for counselors, social workers, coaches, nurses, clergy, or anyone who is interested in having more productive conversations with others. No previous experience necessary. CE credit available for SW, LPC, RN, and Addiction Professionals.
Facilitated by Sky Kershner, LPC, LCSW, ALPS, Member of MINT
3 CEUs- LPC, SW, RN, NAADAC, NBCC
