Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

The kids celebrated Christmas day at the beach as a family with a service together before swimming and heading home for a family Christmas lunch. Then a week later they welcomed in the new year with Bali Life's Got Talent. We enjoyed sharing some amazing dance performances, songs, a drama, and fireworks. We are so proud to see all our kids can do, and how their skills continue to grow as volunteers and teams come to teach them new skills. Thank you!

Hip Hop Workshop

We would like to thank Compagnie Pyramid and Le Meridien Bali Jimbaran , who came to Bali Life and taught our kids some awesome hip-hop moves. Then the following evening, we were invited to another workshop, and dinner, at Le Meridien Hotel where the kids learnt some more dance moves. The kids absolutely loved this. They are continuing to extend their skills with hip-hop and love getting together for planned and spontaneous dance-fests whenever they get the chance!

Women's Centre

There are exciting things happening in our Women’s Centre. In October we received donations of a sewing machine, an overlocker, materials and sewing equipment. Our women have made aprons, shoulder bags and batik cushion covers. Women also continue coming for English classes as well as bringing their kids along for KidZone each week for English and Kid's Club.
In November we celebrated our first 12 months since opening the Women’s Centre. There were 86 people at our birthday party with the majority being from the local community! It was a wonderful afternoon with performances from the children, a women’s group who sang together for the first time publicly, a slide show of events and sharing birthday cake together at the Centre. It has been the culmination of a year of making ourselves well known amongst the community.
Our first family who participated in the live in program for over 12 months moved out recently. Lelyta and the girls have now settled in their own kost (single-room apartment) not far from the Bali Life Children’s Home. The children can now walk there to catch the bus to school daily. Lelyta is still happily working at the Intercontinental Hotel and has just purchased her own motorbike. This is a great outcome for this precious family. We would like to thank everyone who supports the Women’s Centre, as with your help we are able to make change like this happen.

Street Centre
The Street Centre has been flourishing and all the programs are moving along successfully with 31 kids in our school and 12 mums coming to our women's workshop for work.
The children at our informal school for street kids have finished their first semester and received reports and awards for high achievers. This gives the children a sense of confidence and self-esteem as they receive results alongside kids in formal schools at this time of year.
The Women's Workshop sewing course continues as the women make cushions and have orders from some clients. They have also learned how to make glasses, ordered at two different restaurants. We are so glad of this support.
So much appreciation for a generous supporter donating $500 for Christmas presents for children on the streets. We were able to give away 50 sets of shirts, shorts, hats plus a snack pack to children on the streets. As well as meals with rice and water to all the women and kids who we met. Some of Bali Life Children's Home teenagers came and helped to create the packs, hand them out, and share the Christmas Story with the kids. The smiles on the kids' faces as we shared with them and played games was priceless.

Bali Life Farm
It is currently wet season in Bali and our farm is flourishing well. Our vegetables are growing and we are making good use of these in our meals at the children's home. We also have 30 new piglets, 50 ducks and our chickens are also doing well. We also enjoy harvesting the eggs from our ducks and chickens.

Siska Panjaitan

In October our Children's Home Founder, Siska, came to visit for a couple of weeks with her daughter Caley. The kids were thrilled to see her again and the new kids were also pleased to meet her. Thank you for coming and seeing all of our projects. We hope you can make the trip back to Bali again, soon.

Steve and Nicole Crocker
On boxing day we had a tearful farewell to our beloved volunteers, the Crocker family. These past three years, Steve and Nicole have served Bali Life in many ways. They've helped care for kids in the children's home, helped start the Women's Centre and set up the amazing Street Ministry and Street Centre. This ministry reaches women and children on the streets, inviting them to learn and train at our Street Centre, where we have a free Street Kid's School and a Women's Workshop. Thank you so much Steve, Nicole and Isaac for your dedication, time, hard work, and prayers. We hope to see you in Bali again soon. We know that your compassion and legacy will strive in Bali forever. Thank You for being part of our life. All the best as you embark on your new adventure in Adelaide. We know God has the best in store for you there.

New Car Port

Our Board Member, Dallas Brown, brought a team over in November and used their skills to create a much needed car port for our children's home. Our buses are so much cleaner now without the effects of weather and trees constantly on them. Thank you so much for your time and effort building this for us.

Christmas Holidays

Rotary Club and Grand Hyatts
Every year Bali Life kids join a special event at the Grand Hyatt hotel for Christmas with other orphanages around Bali, sponsored by the Rotary Club, Nusa Dua. This year was no different with kids enjoying a  fabulous afternoon of cake decorating, face painting, games, ice cream, food, songs and dances. Some of our children also had the privilege of singing and performing a Christmas dance for everyone. Thanks so much to Rotary Club Nusa Dua and the Grand Hyatt for your generosity and for helping us celebrate Christmas.

Gitgit Waterfalls
We had the opportunity to go to Gitgit waterfalls in December. It was great fun swimming under the waterfalls, swinging on a rope and having a picnic lunch at the end.

Alila Christmas
Our long term supporter, Alila Villas Uluwatu, brought all our kids and staff to another children’s home in Klungkung where we shared a Christmas event together. The kids from each children's home did a song and a dance and heard the Christmas story. Then Bali Life kids had the opportunity to see the rooms where the kids sleep and how their home runs. Thanks so much Alila for your hospitality and the great day, as well as the generous gifts you gave us.

Splash

A huge thanks goes to Melanie Northway, one of our volunteer English teachers for taking our kids and staff out to an amazing day at Splash Waterpark Bali, Strike Ten Pin Bowling and Bounce Trampolines at Canggu Club. The kids had such an amazing time, and can't decide which they liked better, the waterslides, bowling or trampolines. Thanks for your help organising this day and providing lunch for everyone too.

Karma Kandara
Bali Life Kids and Staff from the Children's Home and Women's Centre spent Christmas Eve at Karma Kandara Resort where they had the opportunity to sing some Christmas Carols to the guests and then were presented with gifts by Santa, donated by guests and staff at Karma. Thanks to Karma Kandara staff for putting this together and helping our kids have a wonderfully blessed Christmas.
