Four Thought Friday

Four Thought Friday

Happy Friday! Here is your weekly dose of "Four Thought Friday," a list of the top four things I enjoyed or pondered, this week. Also, please feel free to check out our back issues. Enjoy!
1. Quote I'm pondering —
"The best education does not prepare students for a test… or for a college… or for a job.  It prepares them to keep learning." - Danny Steele @SteeleThoughts
2. What I'm watching —
As busy we all are, finding time to connect, share ideas, and learn from one another is difficult, but essential for our own personal and professional well-being. Twitter is widely used by educators to provide a space and allow teachers to develop their own online PLN (professional learning network.) This video, from Common Sense Education, will provide you with tips and tricks to get started.

3. Something else I'm watching —
BJ Miller is a hospice and palliative medicine physician who has an extensive background in thinking deeply about creating a quality end of life for his patients. Some of BJ's experience comes directly from his own brush with death and the loss of three of his limbs. If you have not seen his TED Talk, which has been viewed over 7 million times, you owe to to yourself to check it out.

4. Tool I'm using —
Pocket, previously known as Read It Later, is an application and web service for managing a list of articles, web pages, videos, etc. from the Internet. In other words, Pocket helps you quickly save and tag anything online so you can easily find it later. For me, it's my second (or third) brain and a life-saver!
