Four Thought Friday

June 8, 2018
Happy Friday! So close, yet so far. 😉 Please be sure to click the Past Issues button above, to check out our previous issues. Enjoy!
1. Important update —
 by G Suite Updates

Google will be updating the look of their login page, next week. For those of us who are constantly on the lookout for phishing scams and suspicious looking login screens, heed this warning.
2. Article I'm reading —
The wheels are falling off technology in schools: Microsoft by Jordan Baker

Technology is an amplifier. It makes good pedagogy great and bad pedagogy horrific. I've fielded the occassional complaint about spending too much time on "theory"; however, great educators know even the best tech in the world can never fix poor instructional practices.
3. App I recommend —
Quizalize is another wonderful option for formative assessment platforms. Quizzes can be assigned in class, set to game mode (à la Kahoot), or completed for homework.

Recently, the team at Quizalize announced a new differentiation feature, which allows teachers to create extension activities, including viewing web pages or PDFs, based upon the results of an assessment. This may be the quickest way I've ever seen to provide students with actionable feedback.
4. Quote I'm pondering —
"Don't cling to a mistake just because you spent a lot of time making it." -- Unknown
If you'd like to discuss any of the above "thoughts" or have some suggestions, please send a tweet to @techcoachz. Be sure to include the hashtag #FourThoughtFriday!
