The Wilson Center Institute publishes its paper: “Reaching across the pacific: Latin America and Asia in the New Century”.

New Frontiers in Asia-Latin America Integration: Trade Facilitation, Production Networks, and FTAs
Economic ties between Asia and Latin America are growing as a part of a global shift toward more South–South cooperation. Yet trade costs remain high, which may impede future interregional trade and integration. Furthermore, an emerging trans-Pacific trade architecture based on free trade agreements (FTAs) carries risks of a noodle bowl effect.

In June 2015, the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS), Singapore, will host the 37th Pacific Conference on Trade and Development (PAFTAD).
 
"The influence of Confucianism on the relations China – Latin America"
The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Colombia, the Institute of Political Studies and International Relations (IEPRI) of the  Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Centro China, the Organización para el Fomento de las Relaciones Colombia China and Banco de la República - Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango held the third conference of the second half of 2014: "La influencia del Confucianismo en las relaciones de China hacia América Latina" (The influence of the Confucianism on the relations China – Latin America) on 15 October 2014. SELA analyses the current state of the relations between Latin-America and the Caribbean and the area of the Pacific, India and Africa
The Latin-American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA) held, on 10 October, the “Reunión Regional sobre las relaciones económicas y comerciales de América Latina y el Caribe con el área del Pacífico, India y África” (Regional Meeting on the Economic and Commercial Relations between Latin America and the Caribbean with the Pacific, India and Africa Region), whose main objective is to progress towards the follow-up of the evolution, current state and prospects of the economic and commercial relations of the region with nations of the Asia Pacific, India and the African Continent. Industrial relations in Asia: old structures and recent developments

Course “Entering the Pacific Basin through the Korean Power”
The objective of the course given by the Universidad EAFIT is to: generate the necessary capacities for developing and implementing new business strategies through Korea, thus focusing on the North-East Asia, as a clear opportunity to enter the economic block of the Pacific Basin. AméricaEconomía organized on 21 and 22 October, for the fourth consecutive year, the Multilatinas Forum, a unique event in Latin America that assembles businessmen and the most important top executives of the region in a dialogue space whose final objective is to promote the internationalization of the Latin-American companies facing global markets. Agreements and negotiations

Chile and Australia deal with the bilateral agenda in the Second Meeting of the Free Trade Commission
The Third Meeting of the Free Trade Commission (FTC) between Chile and Australia was held on 2-3 October, in Canberra - Australia. Such Meeting aims at progressing on issues related to bilateral trade, within the framework of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in-force since March 2009 between both countries. (News in Spanish).

Venezuela and China sign the Sucre satellite manufacturing agreement
The Minister of University Education, Science and Technology, Manuel Fernández, signed on Saturday an agreement with the People’s Republic of China in order to manufacture the third satellite called Sucre, during the closure of the Third National Congress of Culture, at Sala José Félix Ribas of Teatro Teresa Carreño, in Caracas. (News in Spanish).

President Horacio Cartes of Paraguay makes a state visit to the ROC
President Horacio Cartes of the Republic of Paraguay arrived in Taipei on October 7, leading a delegation on a four-day state visit to attend the National Day celebrations of the Republic of China (ROC).

India and Guatemala take the first steps towards a FTA
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala, Carlos Raúl Morales, had a meeting yesterday in New Delhi with the Indian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, committing to take the first steps towards the signature of a free trade agreement. (News in Spanish).

SELA will deal with economic relations between Latin America and China
The Latin-American and Caribbean Economic System (SELA), with headquarters in this capital, announced a meeting in order to analyze the economic, commercial and cooperation relations with China. (News in Spanish).

Chile and India agree on an important extension of the trade agreement in-force since 2007
Delegations of Chile and India concluded, in New Delhi, the negotiations for the extension of the Partial Scope Agreement (PSA) in-force since 2007. (News in Spanish).

Chile participates in the meeting of Trade Ministers of the TPP
A three days ministerial meeting, with a view to laying the necessary working foundations in order to progress and attempt to conclude the negotiations of the Transpacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), ended in Australia, on 27 October.  (News in Spanish).
