Outstanding activities

Visit to China
The Coordinator of the Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, traveled to China between 19 and 28 June 2016, invited by the Newspaper Shanghai Wen Hui Dail, and visited Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian and Shanghai.

Asia Week: “The Pacific Alliance as an Internationalization Instrument”
The Coordinator of the Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, will participate in the tenth version of the “Asia Week” of the Universidad EAFIT, institutional event annually held between 17 and 18 August in Medellín, Colombia. This year, it will have as the main issue: “The Pacific Alliance as an Internationalization Instrument”.
"International seminar: the decrease of China and its impact on Latin America"
The Coordinator of the Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, will participate in the "International seminar: the decrease of China and its impact on Latin America", to be held at the Instituto de Estudios Internacionales de la Universidad de Chile, on Thursday,  13 October, and has the sponsorship of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Regional Program of Social Policies in Latin America (SOPLA).


Malaysia Development Plan 2016 - 2020 : " Anchoring growth on people"
The 2016-2020 Eleventh Malaysia Plan (“11MP”), called “Anchoring growth on people” is the closing chapter of the lengthy 2020 Vision Plan launched in the year 1991. The 2020 Vision Plan considers Malaysia a fully developed country in relation to six different aspects: economic, political, social, spiritual, psychological, and cultural.



Outstanding publications 

Turismo Emisivo Chino
The resurgence of China in the world economy is one of the important events in the first years of this century. Its annual average growth of 9,5% in the last 25 years, with a  liberation and openness policy, turned its economy in the world’s third largest, after the United States and Japan, and the first exporting power. Exportaciones de salmón y trucha a Asia
Chile has succeeded in diversifying the destination of its food exports, especially in the processed goods of the agricultural sector, which have had a key role in the economic success of Chile, contributing significantly with its exporting power. (Publication in Spanish)

Frutas de Importación en China
During the last years China was considered the “star of Asia” referring to a clear growth of the market of agriculture and food, and its participation in the world. Despite the fact that many countries face tariff and para-tariff barriers for the entry of fruits to the country, the market continues giving clear signs of development. (Publication in Spanish)

Foreign Ministry to Host the “2016 Korea-Latin America Partnership: Towards a Shared Vision for Future Cooperation” Event
The Foreign Ministry will host the “2016 Korea-Latin America Partnership: Towards a Shared Vision for Future Cooperation” event in Seoul from June 29 till July 1, bringing together high-level government officials from ten Latin American countries, academic experts, delegates from regional organizations and young Koreans who have successfully built their presence in Latin American countries.

Embassy of Cuba in Japan promotes foreign investment opportunities in Okinawa

With the participation of more than 25 businessmen from Okinawa, a presentation of foreign investment opportunities and business in Cuba was held, in a visit to the further south Island of Japan. (News in Spanish)

APEC Senior Officials Refocus Economies at 2nd APEC Senior Officials’ Meeting in Arequipa, Peru
APEC Senior Officials met at the 2nd Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM2), from May 14 to 15 in Arequipa, Peru, to continue with discussions on economic initiatives under the APEC 2016 theme of “Quality Growth and Human Development”.

Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao Holds Group Meeting with Diplomatic Envoys from Three Caribbean Countries to China
On June 2, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao held a group meeting with Barbados Ambassador to China Chelston Brathwaite, Grenadian Ambassador to China Denis Godwin Antoine and Charge d'Affaires ad Interim of the Jamaican Embassy in China Cherett Campbell. Both sides exchanged views on bilateral relations and international as well as regional issues of common concern.

Foreign Minister Meets with his Cuban Counterpart during the First-ever Visit to Cuba by an ROK Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, for the time for a Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea, visited on June 4 and 5 Cuba, a country that the ROK has no diplomatic relations with, to attend a Summit of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS). On the occasion, he met with Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez of Cuba, the host of the ACS Summit. 

Uruguay and China celebrate the Eighteenth Meeting of the Joint Comission of Economic and Commercial Affairs
Within the framework of the excellent relations between the Oriental Republic of Uruguay and the People’s Republic of China, on 31 May and 1º June, at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Trade of the People’s Republic of China, the Eighteenth Meeting of Joint Commission of Economic and Commercial Affairs between Uruguay and China was held. Minister Nin Novoa was received by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi
In his visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Foreign Minister  Rodolfo Nin Novoa was received by the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Director-General of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zhu Qingqiao Hold Bilateral Consultation with Ramos, Director-General of Asia, Africa and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia
On 6 June 2016, Zhu Qingqiao, Director-General of Latin America and the Caribbean of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held in Beijing a bilateral consultation with Ramos, Director-General of Asia, Africa and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia. Both parties exchange opinions on the relations between China and Colombia and the relevant cooperation. (News in Spanish)

India-Mexico Joint Statement during the visit of Prime Minister to Mexico
At the invitation of His Excellency Mr. Enrique Peña Nieto, President of the United Mexican States, His Excellency Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India paid a working visit to Mexico on 8th June 2016, with the objective to continue the dialogue held by the two leaders on the margins of the 70thregular session of the United Nations General Assembly on 28th September 2015.

Mexico and Singapore, a full relation of business and investments opportunities
At the invitation of the President Enrique Peña Nieto, the President of the Republic of Singapore, Tony Tan Keng Yam, pays a State visit to Mexico on 7 - 11 June. It is the first State visit of a Singapore President to Mexico and Latin America. (News in Spanish)
Visit of the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to Paraguay confirmed
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Mrs. Tsai Ing-wen, will pay her first official visit to Paraguay on 27 - 30 June of this year. (News in Spanish)
Trade Minister welcomes RCEP negotiations
Trade Minister Todd McClay has used his speech to 500 trade delegates at today’s Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) negotiation in Auckland to encourage negotiators to open their markets and be more ambitious.

Ecuadorans may enter China without visa untill 30 days
Ecuadorans wishing to visit China, for 30 days, may do it without visa. It was approved by the National Assembly, today, with 95 positive votes. (News in Spanish)

Foreign Minister Muñoz opened round table on the impact of the TPP regarding human rights
The Foreign Minister, Heraldo Muñoz, chaired today a round table entitled "International Economic Agreements and Human Rights: TPP, a case study". In the activity, organized by the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of trade unions, international organizations, companies and the academic sector, among other groups of the civil society met. Call to be more ambitious in future RCEP negotiations
Trade Minister Todd McClay is urging trade negotiators to be more adventurous and ambitious, warning the government will only sign up to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) if it delivers tangible benefits for New Zealand.

Japan gives $2.7 million dollars for eco-friendly vehicles
By signing an agreement, the Governments of the Republic of Costa Rica and Japan committed to comply with the terms of a gift that will allow the Costa Rican Government to acquire last generation Japanese vehicles. (News in Spanish)
Delegation of India met President Morales
President Evo Morales met, on Friday afternoon, a delegation of India constituted by the concurrent Ambassador of that country, Saadeep Chakravorty, who was with the Director-General for Latin America Latina and the Caribbean, Ashok Das, who announced to the Head of State the predisposition of its Government to promote projects in the pharmaceutical, technological and construction of roads areas. Salvador Valdés highlights level reached in the relations with Laos

Upon instructions of the Secretary Claudia Ruiz Massieu, the Ambassador Carlos de Icaza, Undersecretary of Foreign Relations and Sherpa of Mexico in the G20, participated in the Third Meeting of Sherpas, within the framework of the Presidency of China in the G20. Panama will strengthen relations with Paraguay, Korea and Jamaica
