Meeting of Government Officials "New transformations, new definitions: the relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific"
 
The Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory held the First Meeting of Government Officials, which counted on the participation of the directors and high authorities of the directorates of Asia Pacific of the ministries of foreign affairs and the ministries of the members of the ALADI and on invited experts. Such meeting took place on 14 and 15 April 2016 at the Headquarters of the ALADI.

Thailand International Cooperation Agency offers Scholarships

The Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) invites Panamanian citizens to participate in the call for scholarships for its training courses “Hacia un crecimiento verde con la utilización de residuos” (Towards the green growth with the use of residues) and “El aprendizaje de la agricultura orgánica” (Learning of organic farming). The TPP must be assessed facing the productive and technological challenges of the region, according to Experts of the ECLAC.

The region of Latin America and the Caribbean must assess the impacts of the Transpacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) not only as regards access to new markets but also considering its contribution to the productive and exporting diversification of the countries, to the regional integration processes and to the transition towards the digital economy, as stated on Tuesday, 5 April, by several representatives at the ECLAC. Japan-Argentina Summit Meeting

On Friday, April 1, from 3:18 p.m. to 3:42 p.m. (local time), Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan, who is currently in Washington DC to attend the Nuclear Security Summit, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Mauricio Macri, President of the Argentine Republic. The overview from the meeting is as follows.


The President of the Republic of Korea visits Mexico

The Official Visit of the President Park Geun-hye takes place from 2 to 5 April. (News in Spanish)


ASEAN ambassadors welcome newly-arrived PHL ambassador to Mexico

The resident Chiefs of Mission of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam which, together with the Philippines, comprise the ASEAN Committee in Mexico City (ACMC) hosted Philippine Ambassador to Mexico José Eduardo A. de Vega to a welcome lunch on March 31 to mark his arrival in Mexico earlier in the day.

Presentation in Singapore of the investment opportunities offered by Paraguay

The Concurrent Ambassador of the Republic of  Paraguay in Singapore, Raúl Silvero, had a meeting with the  Director of the Division of Emerging Markets of such Asian country, Toon Joon Wong, who attended with his Assistant for Asia-Latin-America issues, Serena Liau, whom he informed about the investment opportunities our country offers, as well as the interest of  national exporting companies in offering bovine and porcine meat, water, stevia, yerba mate, organic sugar, soybean, sesame and other products. New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs reiterates interest in increasing ties with Cuba

New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs, Murray McCully, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Cuba, Mario Alzugaray, at the Headquarters of the Government, where they expressed the interest in increasing ties and the exchange between the two countries. (News in Spanish)

The President of the Republic of Panama to visit Japan

1. H.E. Mr. Juan Carlos Varela Rodriguez, President of the Republic of Panama, and Mrs. Lorena Castillo de Varela will pay a working visit to Japan from April 17 to 21.

Colombia and Japan concluded a new round for an economic negotiation agreement

The Head of the negotiating team of Colombia, Javier Gamboa, explained that there were progresses at the two fronts, in particular as regards general criteria and origin procedures. (News in Spanish)

Panama and Japan announced an agreement for the automatic exchange of information based on the standard promoted by the OECD

The President of the Republic of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela, and the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, announced today the beginning of negotiations for the establishment of a Bilateral Agreement for the Tax Information Exchange that will include the automatic exchange based on the standard of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OCDE). Panama and Japan concluded a financing agreement for the construction of Line 3 of the Metro

Panama concluded today with Japan a historical financial agreement up to B/. 2.600 million for the construction of Line 3 of the Metro of Panama, the biggest project of public infrastructure of the country since the widening of the Channel. (News in Spanish)

Vice-Minister of Foreign Relations Wang Chao Visits Uruguay

The Vice-Minister of Foreign Relations Wang Chao visited Uruguay on 27 - 28 April. During the visit, the President of Uruguay Tabaré Ramón Vázquez, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rodolfo Nin Novoa had a meeting with him, respectively.
