The Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory presents the call for papers for the second academic seminar “Explorando espacios para la integración productiva entre América Latina y Asia Pacífico” (Exploring spaces for the productive integration between Latin America and Asia-Pacific), to be held on 8 and 9 July 2015, at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago de Chile.

The Coordinator of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory participated in the Seminar “Chile, América Latina y la región Asia Pacífico. Iniciativas Regionales para una Integración Global” (Chile, Latin America, and the Asia Pacific region. Regional initiatives for a global integration) held in Santiago de Chile, on 8 April 2015. The event was organized by Fundación Chilena del Pacífico and Fundación KAS.

Presentation of publications
Within the framework of the Presentation of Publications, the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory presented its last two books.
The event, held at the Headquarters of the ALADI, was opened by the Secretary-General of the ALADI, Carlos Álvarez, who highlighted the role of the countries of South East Asia and the importance of its relationship with the countries of Latin America, which have great similarities.

Seminar "Expandiendo la participación de Pymes en las cadenas de valor entre Asia y América Latina"
The Coordinator of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, participated in the Seminar: "Expandiendo la participación de Pymes en las cadenas de valor entre Asia y América Latina" (Expanding the participation of the SMEs in the value chains between Asia and Latin America) to be held in Santiago de Chile.
The Coordinator of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, participated in the event: “Ruta Exportadora” (Exporting Route).
The event was held on 6 May, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., in Ciudad de la Plata, Provincia de Buenos Aires.
Concurso de ensayos. Las relaciones económicas y comerciales entre América Latina y Asia Pacífico
Within the framework of the activities of the Academic Forum of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory of the ALADI, CAF and ECLAC, the first essays contest about: “Economic and commercial relations between Latin America and Asia Pacific” was held. The essays presented, which developed the main economic and commercial aspects in the relations between the two players, make up the publications of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory. Crisis global, respuestas nacionales. La gran recesión en América Latina y Asia Pacífico
This book of the Latin America – Asia Pacific Observatory studies, in a comparative way, the mechanisms of transmission and reactions of several national States as to the global financial crisis (GFC), begun in 2008, and also known as “Great Recession”. The texts making up the publication are works of recent economic history, and include some of the more representative economies in Latin America and Asia Pacific. The criterion for choosing the economies to analyze was size, regional representativeness and importance in the regional and/or global economy. (Publication in spanish).
Relaciones económicas entre América Latina y el Caribe y la República de Corea: avances y oportunidades
This document was prepared by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) during the official visit of Geung-hye Park, President of the Republic of Korea, to several countries of the region.
The successful experience of the Republic of Korea regarding the economic and social development offers lessons for Latin America and the Caribbean and for the developing country in general. Being one of the poorest countries in the world in the early sixties, the Republic of Korea managed to become, in only six decades, a high revenues economy, an industrial, exporting and scientific power, and a society with high levels of social cohesion and education achievements. The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) held the annual meeting on 26 March in Busan, Korea.
Chilean wines show their attributes in promotion route across Asia
The objective of the route was to transmit importers and buyers the diversity of Chile as a high quality wine producer.
The last weeks of March, Chilean wines reinforced their presence in the Asian continent, by visiting China, Taiwan and Vietnam. During this month, the following were held: Chilean Wine Tour in Taipei, Taiwan (24 March); fair China Food and Drinks in Chengdu, China (from 26 to 28), and Chilean Wine Tour in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam (31 March). Colombia, guest of honour in the Coffee Expo in Korea
Four national businessmen attended the stand of ProColombia, the promotion entity of the guest of honour country in the Coffee Expo Seoul, the only coffee exposition event and its by-products in the territory of South-Korea. The Secretary of Political and Institutional and Agricultural Emergency Coordination, Javier Rodríguez, received Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Wanming Yang, in order to achieve progress in the negotiations that enable the exports from Argentina of several agricultural food products. Positive balance of trade offensive led by Minister Álvarez-Correa in South Korea
To promote the trade relations with South Korea, country with which Colombia signed a Trade Agreement in 2013, was the purpose of the agenda presented by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Cecilia Álvarez-Correa, with authorities and businessmen of that country. (News in spanish).
President of the Republic of Korea will visit Peru
The President of the Republic of Korea, Mrs. Park Geun-hye, will pay a State visit to Peru on 20 and 21 April, due to the invitation of the President of the Republic, Mr. Ollanta Humala. During her stay in Lima, Presidenta Park will have a working meeting with the Head of State, as well as meetings with the President of the Congress, Ana María Solórzano. President of the Republic of Korea will pay a State visit to Chile
The President of the Republic of Korea, Park Geun-hye, will pay a State visit to our country between 21 and 23 April of this year.
This visit, including an important delegation of the Korean business sector, highlights the high level reached in the friendship and cooperation relations with the Republic of Korea, in the political dialogue, in bilateral and multilateral instances, as well as in economic and commercial aspects, infrastructure, renewable energies, mining and scientific and technological cooperation.
