Publications conference
The Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory invites to participate in the seminar: "Publications conference". Such activity will be held on 22 April, at 09:30 a.m., at Sala Cisneros, at the Headquarters of the ALADI.
 
Seminar Expanding the role of SMEs in value chains between Asia and Latin America
The Coordinator of the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, will participate in the Seminar: "Expandiendo la participación de Pymes en cadenas de valor entre Asia y América Latina", to be held in Santiago de Chile.

Second Academic Seminar of the Latin America –Asia Pacific Observatory
The Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory calls for papers for the second academic seminar “Explorando espacios para la integración productiva entre América Latina y Asia Pacífico”, to be held on 8 and 9 July 2015 at the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in Santiago de Chile.

Visit of the Ambassador of Australia in Argentina
The Undersecretary of the ALADI, Pablo Rabczuk, with the Coordinator of the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory, Ignacio Bartesaghi, received the Ambassador of Australia in Argentina (concurrent in Uruguay and Paraguay) Noel Campbell and the honorary Consul of Australia in Uruguay Diego Payssé.
 

Seminar: “Latin American regional integration at a crossroads?: The Pacific Alliance and the Mercosur”
The Coordinator of the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, participated, in Japan, as a lecturer in the Seminar: “Latin American regional integration at a crossroads?: The Pacific Alliance and the Mercosur”, which was co-organized by the Institute for Latin American and the Caribbean Studies (ILAC) and by the Japan Association of Latin America and the Caribbean (JALAC).
 
Seminar: "Latin America in Asia Pacific"
The Coordinator of the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, participated, in India, as a lecturer in the Seminar: "Latin America in Asia Pacific", which was organized by the "Latin American Studies Programme Centre for Canadian, US and Latin American Studies School of International Studies".
 
Visit of the Coordinator to China, Japan and India
In March 2015, the Coordinator of the Latin America - Asia Pacific Observatory, Dr. Ignacio Bartesaghi, visited China, Japan and India. Access the results of his visit.

Conclusiones del V Simposio Electrónico Internacional sobre Política China
The Observatory of Chinese Politics presents the conclusions of the V World Electronic Symposium of Chinese Politics, which was held on 1 - 21 March of this year. (Publication in spanish).

Korea and Latin America and the Caribbean: Striving for a Diverse and Dynamic Relationship
The Inter-American Development Bank presents the publication of the authors: Mesquita Moreira, Mauricio and Estevadeordal, Antoni.

El Ascenso de China en el Escenario Internacional: un análisis desde las corrientes teóricas de las relaciones internacionales
The Universidad Católica del Uruguay publishes the paper about the rise of China in the international scenario. (Publication in spanish).

Why is Malaysia so interested in Joining the TPP? - ISEAS Perspective
The “Institute of Southeast Asian Studies” publishes a paper about the interest of  Malaysia in making up the TPP.
The “Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation” (APEC) publishes such publication about the project of investment in infrastructure in the region of the APEC. 
 
Business and academic activities 

India: diversity, knowledge and power. Prospects from Latin-America
The event “Jornada Internacional sobre India” (International Conference about India) invites to the meeting of academician colleagues, students, interested people and other social agents devoted to teaching, research and other activities about India, creating a space for the critical exchange of ideas, which allows to consider the state of the studies about India within the Latin-American framework and other activities referred to it. May Latin America learn from the economic miracle of Korea? What may Korea learn from Latin America?
The IDB organized the “Knowledge Exchange Forum”, held on 26 March, in Busan, Korea.
The Knowledge Exchange Forum is a platform in which the comparative analyses of experiences in five sectors were presented in order to promote an important exchange of development experiences, to promote the alliances between Korea and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and contribute to the search of a sustainable and equitable development. Second Ibero-American Congress of Chinese Studies, Official Call
With the expansion of the Confucius Institutes, the boost of the New Plan of Chinese Studies (Confucius China Studies Program) and the approval of the Hanban/Central Office of the Confucius Institutes, the Foundation of the Confucius Institute of Barcelona, the Confucius Institute of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata, the Confucius Institute of the Universidad de Valencia, with the  collaboration of the Universidad de Barcelona, the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Casa Asia, the Universidad Nacional de La Plata and the Universidad de Valencia, decide to organize  with the Second Ibero-American Congress of Chinese Studies, in order to consolidate and place more relevance to the Chinese studies in the Ibero-American world.
It will be held on 25 and 26 June, Barcelona, Spain. (News in Spanish).


Call for papers for the Seventh Meeting of Korean Studies in Latin Americana
The Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Xochimilco is pleased to invite Latin-American academicians, engaged in Korean issues, to participate in the Seventh Meeting of Korean Studies in Latin America (EECAL). The meeting will be held in Ciudad de México, on 5 and 6 October 2007, due to the generous support of the Korea Foundation. (News in Spanish).

29th Asia-Pacific Roundtable (APR)
The “Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia” organizes the “29th Asia-Pacific Roundtable” in Kuala Lumpur, from 1 to 5 June 2015.
 

Expo Central China 2015
The Expo Central China 2015 will be held on 18 and 20 May 2015, in Wuhan, Hubei, China. Organizes: Promotion and Investment Agency of the Ministry of Trade.

Guatemalans expect to generate US$ 15 millions in the business round with Taiwanese businessmen
With high expectations, two hundred Guatemalan businessmen at least participated in the business round organized by the Embassy of Taiwan in coordination with the Office of Foreign Trade of Taiwan –TAITRA and officially opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Guatemala, Adolfo Sun. This event was consolidated as the most important of its kind organized so far. (News in Spanish).

Expo India 2015 began with the participation of 90 textile and manufactures companies
According to Ambassador Debraj Pradhan, in Expo India 2015, the Chileans will have access to an art exhibition and abilities of Indian traditional craftsmen that, through their small and medium companies represent the exporting potential and their experience in the main international markets. Colombia attends the most important food fair of Japan
On Tuesday, 3 March, the “Foodex Japan” was held, one of the three most important food fairs in the world. ProColombia will present the offer of the national industry with samples of coffee, sugar and oil in order to place them in the Japanese market. The 40th edition will count on 70.000 assistants of 75 countries. (News in Spanish).

Agreement between Fundación Exportar and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council
The Executive Director of the Fundación Exportar, Leonardo Boto, and the Executive Assistant Director of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Raymond Yip, signed a cooperation agreement in order to promote the economic growth, to boost the business development, to enhance the activities of trade promotion and to strengthen the economic cooperation between Argentina and Hong Kong. The Chairman's Luncheon - Brisbane 2015
The Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) organizes this working luncheon in order to exchange ideas and opinions about doing business in Latin America.

Latin America Oil and Gas Market Briefing and Reception - (Perth)
The “Australia-Latin America Business Council” organized such event, which took place on 10 March in Australia. There are several opportunities of new markets in Latin America in the sector of fuels.

Exports of Peru to Taiwan grew up 48% in 2014
The exports of Peru to Taiwan reached 316 million dollars in 2014, which represented a growth of 48% compared to the previous year, according to the Representative of the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei, Jaime Wu. (News in Spanish).

The Latin America Japan Investors Forum
LATINFINANCE organizes the mentioned event, which will be held on 28 and 29 May, in Tokyo, Japan. 

 
Agreements and negotiations

The Director of Asia and Oceania of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba visit Vietnam
The Director of Asia and Oceania of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, paid a working visit to Vietnam where he had meetings with authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Indochinese country. (News in Spanish).

Vice-Chancellor Nasser had a meeting with his equivalent Shin Dong Ik of the Republic of Korea - Seoul
In response to an invitation by the Government of Korea and in order to carry out a revision of the bilateral agenda between Honduras and the Republic of Korea, the Vice-Chancellor María del Carmen Nasser had a working meeting with S.E. Shin Dong Ik, Vice-Chancellor of Global and Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea. (News in Spanish).

Costa Rica and India strengthen their diplomatic ties
The Vice-Chancellor, Alejandro Solano Ortiz, began on Monday a working tour across India, where he opened the Second Round of Meetings of the Mechanism of Bilateral Political Consultations, he had meetings with representatives of the Federation of Trade and Industry Chambers of India and signed an agreement between the diplomatic academies. Second Round of India-Costa Rica Foreign Office Consultations
The second negotiations round of India – Costa Rica was held on 16 March in New Delhi.  

Courtesy visit to the Primer Minister Abe by Mr. Cabrisas, Vice-Presidente of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba
On 9 March, since 10 am and during almost 35 minutes, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Fumio Kishida had a meeting with Mr. Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, Vice-President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Cuba, visiting Japan. During the conversation the following issues were dealt with. (News in Spanish).

Proméxico and Mizuho Bank Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding to attract Japanese investment
ProMéxico and Mizuho Bank Ltd. signed a memorandum of understanding in order to coordinate efforts for promoting and attracting Japanese investment in Mexico.

Meeting of Sherpas of the BRICS – Brasilia, 3 and 4 March 2015
In compliance with the Action Plan of Fortaleza, held in Brasilia, on 3 and 4 March, at the meeting of the Sherpas of the BRICS, the diplomats were appointed for controlling and guaranteeing the application of the mechanism of the cooperation guidelines established by the leaders in the meetings of the Summit. Embassy of Peru in Japan participated in the International Seminar about the Pacific Alliance
The Embassy of Peru in Japan participated, as a lecturer, in the International Seminar “Latin America in the Pacific Basin”, held on Thursday 05 at the United Nations University in Tokyo, in order to analyse the role and the interaction of the transpacific relations between Latin America and Asia, with special emphasis on the role fulfilled by the Pacific Alliance and Japan in Latin America. Costa Rica strengthens its diplomatic links with the Republic of Indonesia
The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alejandro Solano Ortiz, had, on 9 and 10 March, a working visit in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia, whose main goal was to initiate the studies for establishing an Embassy of Costa Rica in this country, in one of the main agents of the international scenario in the South of Asia and also Headquarters of the ASEAN. China becomes a key banker for Latin America
China opened its arms and its pocket for Latin America by offering to the region more capital in 2014 than de World Bank (WB) and the Inter-American Development Bank  (IDB) together, according recently to the Chinese newspaper China Daily. (News in Spanish).

The 5th FEALAC Cyber Secretariat Workshop
The “5th FEALAC Cyber Secretariat Workshop” was held on 12 March and was called: "Strengthening Solidarity through Expanding FEALAC-side Projects".

APEC Building Financial Sector into Catalyst for More “Inclusive Economies”
The Ministry of Finances and the Central Banks of the 21 economies of the APEC went into a partnership in order to build a financial sector of Asia-Pacific in an engine for more "inclusive economies", whose benefits have positive consequences in the companies end people in the whole region, and also allows stronger sustainable growth power.

Second Vice Foreign Minister Attends the “Cartagena Dialogue: The Trans-Pacific Summit” Hosted by the IISS
The dialogue: The Trans-Pacific Summit organized by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) was held on 6 -8 March.
