Mental Health Liaison Service

News Update

The Derby and Derbyshire Mental Health Community Groups Network was developed to bring groups together who work within mental health sharing ideas and to support one another.

Rachel and Jodie bring developments to the group asking them for their views on projects. Most recently we have asked for input on developments such as crisis cafes and safe havens; as well as informing groups of training that they can share with their networks. We have also facilitated informal presentations for example P3 staff outlining progress with the Derbyshire Mental Health Helpline.

We have supported people with signposting to the infrastructure organisation in their area and connected groups together around a shared piece of work. Paul Oxborough states “The Mental health forum has really helped us understand the services out there and the support available to our members and team. It is a valuable resource for a small organisation like ours. I would like to thank the team for being there for us” - Mental Health Motorbike www.mhmotorbike.com

Sue Wheatcroft states “Running a mental health support group can be lonely and, at times, a little daunting. The mental health community groups network forums have provided us with a space in which we can discuss issues that concern us, as well as having a chat...and a laugh!”  Sue Wheatcroft from Derbyshire Borderline Personality Disorder Support Group https://www.rethink.org/help-in-your-area/support-groups/derbyshire-borderline-personality-disorder-support-group/

We have now had three meetings of this relaxed and informal forum. We encourage everyone to take part in the way that they are most comfortable including using the chat bar as an alternative to speaking in the meetings.

Our next meeting is on September 22nd 1.30pm – 3pm. Please contact Bryony White for the zoom link; bryony@dva.org.uk. We have a mailing list that you can also be added to, and we would love to see you there!
