More Streamlined Visas for Australian Education Sector

Streamlined visa processing arrangements will be extended to students enrolled in advanced diploma level courses at low immigration risk providers, Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Scott Morrison and Minister for Education, Christopher Pyne has announced. Read more.


New Industry Skills Fund in Federal Budget 2014

The Government will provide $476.0 million over four years to establish the Industry Skills Fund (ISF) from 1 January 2015 to support the training needs of small to medium enterprises which cannot be readily met by the national training system. Read more.
 

Tertiary Deregulation Part of Federal Budget 2014

As part of the 2014 Federal Budget, deregulation of higher education will take place from 1 January 2016. For tertiary higher education deregulation, universities, TAFEs and private colleges will be free to set higher education student course fees. Read more.


Changes to Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship students will be impacted by the 2014 Budget which will axe Tools for Your Trade payments totalling $5,000 for apprentices as they complete each stage of their course, instead introducing student loans for apprentices. Read more.
