If you've already heard about our Virtual Team because you were registered for one of our Spring Track Teams, you can disregard this message. For those of you who were not registered for a Spring Track team, I want to communicate our plans with you.

With news that schools will not open until May 4th, and CDC recommendations that we cancel all activities including 10 or more people, it is with great sadness that we acknowledge that a face-to-face youth track program is not looking feasible for at least another 5-weeks, and maybe longer. We may not be able to hold an in-person coaching track season at all right now. 

In order to support our athletes in getting out and exercising, we have decided to offer a 15-week online season from March 28th to July 11th. Participation on our virtual team will include weekly emails including 3 workouts per week, with a distance option, a sprint option, and an agility add-on that everyone can do. 

Along with the emailed workouts, we will provide a Virtual Team t-shirt (see above) and a shared accountability spreadsheet where your athlete can check in and show us what workouts they complete as well as make comments about their week of workouts. 

From the accountability spreadsheet, we will award  “athlete of the week” prizes, which will be mailed to you. 

We encourage social media sharing on Instagram, Facebook, and Strava so we can give likes and kudos to our athletes as they complete workouts and inspire others to do the same. Please follow Race Cats on Instagram @RaceCats and Facebook @RaceCatsTrackClub and join our Strava team @RaceCats 

We urge athletes to be safe while they are completing workouts. Find areas where they can safely exercise alone while keeping a 6 foot distance from others. This article in Runner’s World has some great information regarding safely exercising outdoors.

The cost of our 15-week virtual team is $50.

If the CDC recommendations change and we are allowed to do so, we’d still love to put together a partial season with face-to-face coaching. But until the group gathering recommendations loosen up, this virtual program that we have designed will still provide your athlete with structured workouts, the ability to get fit, get outside, have fun, and continue developing as a track athlete.

If you're already registered for a Race Cats spring track team, please check your email from a few days ago and follow the instructions for how to be refunded and/or added to our virtual team.

Sandy City Rec participants will be refunded by Sandy City and will need to re-register for the Virtual Team on our website, if desired.
