Ways To Love!

Being Among The Children.

Abogar's Founder, Jesse Rivers, has made the move to be in Guatemala, volunteering at God Bless The Children Home, and continuing to help lead Abogar forward. Everything we do as an organization is motivated by the desire to share God's love to the children of Latin America who are abandoned, orphaned, or homeless. While it is true that there are many ways to love, we believe that one of the most important ways is to be among the children, and it is truly a blessing for Jesse to be able to now be present among the children there in Guatemala!

Jesse has reported already of several other ways that he has been able to be loving on the children and sharing the love of Christ with them.  He has been helping to drive a van/bus full of the children to school in the mornings, and then retrieving them from school in the mid-day. He also has been cleaning up after them (including pee and vomit), attending doctor visits and dental appointments with them, helping feed them, and playing with and holding them.

The children each have their own individual story, but all are fraught with trauma, rejection, abuse, and circumstances no human should ever have to know or live with! It is important for us to remember Jesus' response to children in Matthew 19:13-14...
Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

Jesus laid his hands on the children and prayed over them! While there are many ways to love these children, Abogar truly believes that prayer is a very important way to love them. Will you join us in praying, not only for the 24 precious children of God Bless The Children Home, but also for the multitude of children worldwide who find themselves abandoned, rejected, orphaned, and homeless?

Having a SPLASH DAY with the kids!!
Note from Abogar's President

Dear Friends,

Greetings from Guatemala! It's hot, sunny, and summertime here. The trees all around have flowers growing in them, and there is lots of color and life all around me, especially with all the little ones (24) here in God Bless The Children Home!

These two weeks that I have been able to be here already have been such a blessing! While many challenges and changes in lifestyle have come about, God has blessed me with a tremendous peace and joy for being here. My Spanish is coming along slowly, but my love for these children is growing quickly!

The house parents, David and Cinthya, have already been a blessing to know and learn from. There is great excitement for what God may have for us as God leads us forward in partnership, with minds and hearts that are aligned with His calling to look after, care for, and fight on behalf of these precious children!  With four or five house mamas, an administrator, and me a volunteer to help them, they are still a bit shorthanded for the 24 children that are now in this home, but we continue trusting for God's full provision in His perfect timing.

I would love to invite you to pray for us! Pray for the children, God Bless The Children Home, and for the work that God wants to do in each of their lives! Pray for the workers and staff, house parents, and myself as a volunteer! Please also pray for Abogar International Ministries, that we may be exactly where God wants us! Pray ultimately that Christ's love shines, and that these kids would truly get to know Him as their Lord and Savior!
