Dignity Action Day 2016 – Monday 1 February

Dignity Action Day is an annual opportunity for health and social care workers and members of the public to recognise and uphold people’s right to dignity and is particularly applicable in the care situation.

This year, to recognise and support the day, Hoople is planning to create a real life ‘Digni-tree’ that will be displayed in our Churchill Gardens Training Centre for the whole month of February – and beyond.

We would like our tree to be hung with ‘leaves’ that have been submitted by Herefordshire’s care organisations.

The leaves will each contain a response to the question:

What do you do to support staff in promoting dignity
in your workplace/care service?

We would love to get as many leaves as possible for the tree so please can you help us by contributing your ideas.

  -  Click here to download your leaf and take part  -

Once you have downloaded the leaf template, add your comments then save it and send it back to us: marketing@hoopleltd.co.uk by Monday 25 January. Please also send us a jpeg or png copy of your organisation’s logo (if you have one) so we can add it to the leaf.

Your completed leaf will be included on the tree (alongside your organisation’s name or logo) and we will be tweeting a selection on Dignity Action Day itself.

We hope that your comments will also be used as a focus for discussions with our health and social care learners to help them to recognise the significance of Dignity in Care.

It will be a great opportunity for your home/service to raise its profile and for visitors to our Training Centre and learners to see how importantly you regard Dignity in Care – not just on Dignity Action Day but all year round.

We really look forward to receiving your completed leaves to help us fill our tree.

FREE Dignity seminar

As part of Dignity Action Day we are offering care providers the opportunity to attend a free seminar focusing on ‘The common core principles of dignity: what can we do to make a difference?’

The seminar will last two hours and will take place on 1 February. You have the choice of two time slots: 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm, both taking place at the Churchill Gardens Training Centre.

There will be an opportunity to:
  • Review the 10 dignity do’s
  • Review resources available to promote dignity in organisations
  • Look at the use of an audit tool to identify gaps in practice and knowledge

To book your place, please visit CPD Online. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis, so please do reply promptly.

FREE Train the Trainer Workshop to Raise Awareness of Prevent (WRAP)

We are pleased to offer this workshop, FREE of charge, which is aimed at safeguarding/Prevent leads as well as any front line managers, particularly those who work with children and vulnerable adults. Following this training you will have a better understanding of the Prevent Duty and of how people are manipulated by extremist ideologies. You will also be able to deliver Home Office accredited WRAP training within your organisation.

The course lasts for two hours and is taking place on 8, 10 and 11 February. To register for a place, please visit CPD Online.

New website

You may have noticed that Hoople launched its brand new website at the start of the year. We have worked hard over the past few months to ensure that it is a significant improvement on the previous site with better content and easier navigation options.

In the forthcoming months, further developments and enhancements are planned for the website. In the meantime, we’d love to know what you think. Please take a look (www.hoopleltd.co.uk) and let us have your feedback.
