PEIWI MAY E-Newsletter
The PEIWI provincial Board continues to receive inquiries on provincial events and requests in light of COVID-19 and re-opening phases. As we strive to bring you the latest updates, the following is for your review as of May 1, 2020. (Note, items in red are links)

From the PEIWI Provincial Board:
The provincial WI Board of Directors welcomes the "Renew PEI, Together: Phase In Approach" recently announced by the Government of Prince Edward Island.   As phases continue the Board further recommends your branch create operational plans to reduce risk for your meetings and/or events within the parameters and templates provided by our province's phase in document (Renew PEI Together Details).

PEIWI encourages modifications and creativity to conduct business within the phase-in period in PEI.  As we progress, it is the hope for branches to potentially reconvene in-person meetings starting this fall by adhering to current health directives at that time.

In the meantime, provincial board member, Sheila MacLean, has offered to assist branches in connecting through teleconference or online meeting resources.  Sheila can be reached at 902-651-2865 or

PEIWI's monthly newsletter is also modified to reflect the current situation, and is inclusive of branch news!

Notes and News - WI's Monthly Newsletter
Renew PEI Together Document - PEI's phased approach to relax COVID-19 Public Health Restrictions.
Renew PEI Together Resources - highlights popular questions.

Excerpt from the recently released Renew PEI Together document:
"For organizations, as we move cautiously yet optimistically forward, it is important to understand this phased approach does not mean ‘business as usual’. All services, businesses, and organizations are going to need to modify their operation in light of COVID-19 and will be required to create operational plans demonstrating how they will reduce risk. This will facilitate continuous monitoring and ensure adequate preventive measures are in place."

PEIWI SPECIAL PROJECT LIST CONTINUES - How can your branch continue to assist during COVID-19?

Special thank you - the provincial Board and staff would like to thank each person involved in the process of making, dispersing and collecting masks/accessory kits.  Your combined efforts have eased minds and this endeavour has been truly an extraordinary act of kindness.  Once time permits, we hope to share the notes of thanks, and kind sentiments shared with the Mask Team. Thank you.

Mask project will continue.   PEIWI has partnered with Katie Beck of PEI Mask+Aide and hopes to continue to fabricate masks using a specific pattern in response to requests from vulnerable sectors of long term facilities on PEI. Through our partners, donations, and willing members we hope members can still join in to respond to the call to provide masks.

We called upon sewers in your branches to help fulfill a current need of 500 masks, and since then almost 1500 masks have been sewn, and dropped off for dispersion to long term facilities across PEI where requested.

Directions and an accessory kit (in packages of 10 or 25) for this specific project are still available. Details are listed in the links below.

If interested in participating, and to expedite this process we are asking one per person branch to arrange details for your branch members using the following links and safe distancing practices.
