Hello Friends!

While summer is coming to and end here in the United States, our students at MD Standard School just finished up their midterm exams and recently organized an election for prefects. This month we also plowed land for our maize crop and we are now waiting for rain to plant and grow our maize. We can't wait to share our progress over the next few months!

MD Standard School Prefects
In Uganda, as well as other countries, a prefect is known as an older student who is given the job of helping to watch and control younger students in the school. Student prefect contenders at MD Standard School sent in their application letters for consideration and were expected to get involved in the general campaign. The chairperson received the application letters and thereafter, he announced the general campaign and Election Day.
Congrats to all of our new prefects!

Student Spotlight
Babombe Stuart Rashidi

Bamombe Stuart (5 years old) lost his father when he was younger and his mother and grandmother were not interested in caring for him or able to provide him an education. When Daniel Mawanda found Bamombe, he was in poor health and was being mistreated by the people he was staying with. Thanks to the financial support of The Mawanda Project and Daniel's passion for helping those in need, Bamombe is now a student in Middle Class at MD Standard School. His favorite subjects are language development and social development and his favorite food is rice. Bamombe likes soccer games and enjoys music, dancing, and watching films.
