CLS in Dorset FREE events 2-8 March

This week, CLS in Dorset and various partner organisations are running over 10 fantastic events. There are food events, stalls, film screenings, discussions and a rare chance to join in with Artspark’s climate change board game. The two headline events 'Disruption' and 'Stories of Change' are proving popular so BOOK NOW to reserve your place.

Local residents will share stories about how they became interested in living more sustainably.

A fast-paced hour long cinematic journey through the wild world of climate change: the science, the politics, the solutions, and the stories. After show discussion facilitated by Raja Jarrah. Book here.
Join us before 'Disruption', at 5.30pm at Bridport Arts Centre for a new exhibition celebrating local smallholders. At 6pm, Local Food Roots screens, charting the rise of the local food movement over the last 25 years. Ash Wheeler, grower at Trill Farm Garden, will speak after the film about developing sustainable agriculture locally. No booking required. UPDATE: Boost Your Online Presence workshop
The CLS 'Boost Your Online Presence' workshop took place on the 12th February 2015 at the Dorford Centre.  Local businesses from the renewable energy and low carbon sector were given tips and advice on how to improve their digital marketing. More.

Primary schools are preparing for next week's visits from Gordon le Rotter, a wacky puppet show about how to avoid food waste. More

Meanwhile, Energy Week at Damers First school was a hit, and Alison has been encouraging Beaminster School students to use their skills on the Beaminster Environmental Action Team.

STIR to Action workshops
Stir to Action have launched an exciting six-month programme of training workshops  to build the co-operative capacity of local communities. These workshops will introduce participants to new tools, innovative strategies and the practices that can enable us to face up to climate change, financial crises and the other social problems we currently experience. To join in, visit the Stir to Action website.
Jewson - Building Better Communities Competition Opens 
The competition is open to any local group in the UK that has a 'big idea' that will benefit its community.
The awards are to be used to help pay for the cost of building materials and labour and can be spent on anything from a new roof for the local village hall, a sensory garden, a community festival or a coat of paint for a neglected public facility.
The deadline is 12 April 2015. Full details
Dorset's Best Village Competition 2015 Launched The search is still on for Dorset’s Best Village with the launch of the 2015 competition. The competition has been organised by Dorset Community Action (DCA) for the past 28 years. Download more information and an entry pack.
Free Trees from the Woodland Trust
If you are a community project or school, you can apply to the Woodland Trust for a pack of free trees to plant in your area. The Woodland Trust sends out free trees every March and November to groups across the UK. Visit the Woodland Trust for more information.
