Last week, hosts were treated to a "practice" tour of Chit and Lucy's house and very productive garden. Read more...
Helpers wanted - we'd like some help with publicity (distributing posters, and signs) and to support hosts on the day.  If you are interested, contact emily@da21.org.uk

Dreaming of
Paris in
the winter?
The Climate is Changing, and so is what we're doing about it:
Jan 2015 - wind power produced 14% of the UK’s electricity
July 2015 - UK’s hottest July day ever recorded: 36.7°C
Dec 2015 - World leaders meet in Paris to agree how to keep climate change to a 2°C limit.

But what will we do in Dorset? Let’s talk about it!
We know people in Dorset care about climate change, so now is the time to let more people know. We're holding a workshop to do just that, but we want to make sure it works for you, please help us by answering a few questions.  Click here

Young People Required! Design and deliver a project to help your community
To coincide with the Paris climate talks in December, CLS Dorset is challenging young people to design and deliver a project that helps people in their community to live more sustainably or reduce their carbon emissions.

CLS will support teams and provide £250 funding for the best 10 ideas. PLUS, there is the opportunity to win an outdoor adventure for your team.
Look out for details in the September newsletter.  If you'd like to pre-register to receive Challenge information, contact Emily emily@da21.org.uk
Community Woodland Update

© Common Ground/ National Assoc for AONBs
It's been a productive winter for our community woodlands.  The ten groups CLS in Dorset have been supporting have done a huge amount of work, felling trees, managing scrub, processing fire wood and much more.  If you add it all up, it comes to a whopping 175 days of volunteer input to help manage these important features within the West Dorset landscape.

Over the coming year, we will continue to support the groups and hopefully run a few events with communities to raise the profile of their work.

If you would like to find out more about the work of the community groups, please contact Ian Rees on i.rees@dorsetcc.gov.uk or 01305 228235.

Cookery talents on show
CLS teamed up with the Bridport Food Festival and street food businesses Stewed and Baked and Pizza Dragon to create a cooking challenge with a twist. Children at Bridport Primary Schools were challenged to devise a recipe for a family meal that was healthy, sustainable and could be cooked in one pot.
The challenge showed off the enthusiasm and cookery skills of children in Bridport.
The Winner was ‘My Dorset Tagine’ by Blake Ford, Symondsbury Primary.
We hope they all keep cooking!
Transition Streets coming to a street near you!
Will you join in?
We've heard great things from the two Dorchester groups who have just completed the Transtition Together / Streets programme. They loved the support of the group, have made new friends, made money saving changes to their homes and greened their lifestyles. We're working on your own Dorchester Transition Streets video, but in the mean time this video will give you the gist of how it works.
It's free to take part, you'll get a manual customised to Dorset and we'll help you connect with others and get your group going.
Sounds great tell me more.
