Martin’s Must-Reads

We are now in the second week of our new Morning Edition segment: Martin's Must-Reads! Every Wednesday, Betty Martin recommends a must-read based on her own personal biases for historical fiction, quirky characters, and overall well-turned phrases. Betty reads close to 100 titles a year, so she has plenty to share with you!

Hear about her most recent must-reads - The Alice Network by Katie Quinn and Don’t Make Me Pull Over by Richard Ratay - here.

Jason Brown Is Waving Goodbye

“Come see me on the west coast!”

These are the words Jason Brown left behind as the first to sign our signature wall at the station. Jason has spent just shy of 20 years here at KRCU Public Radio serving in various positions such as operations director, host of Left Of The Dial, The Elliot Potter Show, and several more. Soon, he’ll head out to Eugene, Oregon, to start his new job as program director at KLCC Public Radio! Thanks for all you’ve done here, Jason, and we can’t wait to see the adventures you’ll get into along the west coast!

Early Bird Deadline

Break out your leg warmers and pink foil prom dress.

Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching- do you have your plans hammered out yet? Our 5th Annual Valentine’s Celebration, “I Love The 80’s,” is happening on Feb. 16, and the early bird pricing deadline is this Friday, Jan. 11. Early bird tickets are $55 for individual tickets, and $400 for a table of 8.

The event includes a buffet dinner, an open bar, music by “That 80's Band” from St. Louis and a photo booth! Cocktail hour starts at 6:30 with dinner at 7:00, and dancing starts at 8:00.

Show Changes

KRCU’s independent music program, Left of the Dial, which previously ran Friday nights from 9-11 PM and Saturday afternoons from 12-2 PM, has been discontinued. Jazz Network will take its place on Friday nights. American Routes, which also runs on Sundays, will take the 12-2 PM slot on Saturday. See our complete (and printable!) program schedule here.

End-Of-Year Drive Update

Thanks to bountiful end-of-year giving and a few checks that flew in earlier this month, we’ve crunched the numbers, and are happy to kick off the new year by announcing that we reached 104% of our goal for the end of 2018! Thanks to you, we can continue serving the public interest by providing the highest quality public radio programming to southeast Missouri and southern Illinois.
