Youth empowerment


The Youth Employment Foundation is a Cyprus registered NGO. Services and Programs are mainly provided for free or a nominal fee to cover part of the NGO’s expenses. One of the key aims of the program is to provide opportunities for young people to be MENTORED in one or more of the following areas: coming in contact with specific professions, current thinking of professionals in different industries/sectors, professional values, behaviors and skills the employers are looking for in a young person, continuous self-development and non – formal learning.

Hope for the World


The Hope For Children UNCRC Policy Center is an independent humanitarian institution which works on the protection of the rights of children and provides for their safety and stability. Their programmes consist of non-formal Human Rights education, combating sexual violence against children, “Beat Bullying”, European hotline for missing children and European helpline for children and adolescents, social, psychological and legal support, and many more. Joseph Varughese, our alumni and the person behind the idea, has agreed to give us an interview to introduce HFC to us and unveil his adventures.

Without hesitation


Damien Heraclides is an Australian-born freelance videographer and editor in Cyprus. He graduated from the University of Nicosia in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Communications and Mass Media with a concentration in Film and Creative Media Production. He goes on to tell us the story about his success and struggle.

Maritime Academy to launch in Cyprus
 

“The Eastern Mediterranean is a region with a rich maritime heritage. In these difficult times, it is essential that the people in the region set aside past differences and work together towards economic development... utilising that which unites them: The sea.” With these words, Mr. Marios Demetriades, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, welcomed the creation of the first Maritime Academy in Cyprus.

Discount Scheme


This academic year, the University of Nicosia and particularly the Student Affairs Dept. has worked hard to provide students and alumni with a wide variety of discounts available both in places surrounding the campus and further away. Students and alumni are offered discounts in a variety of stores and shopping locations, bars and restaurants, useful services, and many more. The terms for using these discounts can be found on the University of Nicosia website.

Study with us
 

The University of Nicosia is launching six (6) new programmes of study as of this coming Semester (Fall 2015). As with all University of Nicosia programmes, these address either existing or emerging industry and societal needs, including new directions in fields as varied as Mental Health, Theology and Shipping. The latter ties in with the University’s wider undertaking for the establishment of the first Maritime Academy in Cyprus, in cooperation with the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT).

Sky is not the limit

 
Our alumna, Maja Tepeh, has proved to be more than an example for other students. She has excelled academically and achieved a GPA of 3.95 upon completion of her Bachelor’s degree in PR, Marketing & Advertising and is now graduating with a Summa Cum Laude from her Master’s degree in Digital Media and Communication where her GPA remained at 4.0 consecutively. What’s more is that she was an active volunteer, a member of various student Clubs and Societies and a student assistant at the Research and Innovation Office.

Chukwuka Utebor is an MBA student from Nigeria. He is one of the first students who applied and was accepted for an internship at SAP Software and Solutions, Business Applications and Information Technology, and opened the door for more University of Nicosia students to work there.
