Golf Manitoba is pleased to announce that 2015 is the 100th anniversary of amateur golf.  It was July 5th, 1915 that the Manitoba Golf Association was formed and the Manitoba Ladies’ Golf Association formed in 1917.  In 2004, the two associations amalgamated to form the current Golf Manitoba.
To kick off the celebration, Golf Manitoba is conducting a fundraising raffle (Lottery License #LGA-6152-RF) for an opportunity to win a round of golf for four (one tee time) and the use of two power carts at forty (40) of Manitoba’s finest golf facilities.  This unique golf package valued at approximately $10,000 will be drawn on August 14th.  An early bird draw will take place on June 30th for a chance to win a complete set of Titleist golf clubs and bag.
Net proceeds from the raffle will be distributed to Golf Manitoba Programs (50%) which includes the Golf in Schools Program, the annual Training Squad Program which prepares our young athletes for Manitoba, Western Canada and Canada Summer Games, a contribution to the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Manitoba to assist with junior development programming, Championship enhancements and the 100th Anniversary Celebration. The Manitoba Golf Scholarship Fund and the University of Manitoba Bison Team Program will each receive 20% and a Sellers Prize of 10% will be awarded to a 2015 member club, group or facility that the grand prize winner has identified on their ticket.

Other activities that will take place in 2015 to celebrate the 100th anniversary are:

Season long awareness to the history of the game in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario
  • A celebratory golf tournament on August 17th at the St Charles Country Club
  • A Junior Clinic in partnership with the PGA of Manitoba

Since 2003, Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada have been providing member clubs with educational sessions relating to the handicap system.  To date, approximately three hundred and fifty participants have attended these seminars.
Golf Manitoba will be offering another Handicap Education Seminar on Saturday April 18th at the Rossmere Country Club from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The seminar is being offered as part of the copyright agreement between Golf Canada and the United States Golf Association to try and maintain a consistent manner in which the handicap system is utilized.  Each member club is required to have at least one person participate in the seminar.  Golf Manitoba would encourage clubs to consider both volunteers and staff to attend.  These people will then become resources at the club level for all handicap inquiries.  If you have already had someone attend, we would also encourage you to send others.
A minimal cost of $20.00 per person will be charged to cover the cost of lunch and handouts.
Please RSVP your attendance at 204-925-5730 or

The Golf Manitoba Spring Information meeting is an important part of communications outreach to all golfers and member clubs.  It provides the opportunity for questions or to seek clarity on any Golf Manitoba or Golf Canada initiatives or programs. Representatives from Golf Manitoba and Golf Canada will be at the Spring Information Meeting to present the information.

The session will start at 10:00 a.m. and will conclude no later than 2:00 p.m.

Annually we request that each member club provide us with the name of a male and female representative to assist Golf Manitoba in communicating with our clubs. If your club has not provided us with this information, please do so as soon as possible. Invitations to these representatives as well as other club officials will be sent out soon.

We believe that the Information Session is very informative and hope representatives from each club will be able to attend.
