Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram, former CIMMYT program director and eminent wheat breeder will be honored on Thursday as the 2014 World Food Prize winner for his scientific work that resulted in the release of more than 480 varieties of bread wheat, occupying more than 58 million hectares worldwide and increased world wheat production by more than 200 million tons.
This year's Borlaug Field Award will be given to Dr.Bram Govaerts Associate Director of CIMMYT's Global Conservation Agricultural Program on Wednesday for his tireless dedication in helping poor farmers increase food production on existing farmland.
