Holidays on Ice

These look like the perfect way to steel oneself for a week at home with extended family. Discover the new custom-made wooden chalet suites on the BOURBON STEAK terrace (2800 Pennsylvania Ave NW), now available for reservations. An evolution of the popular “ice bubbles” of previous years, the new suites feature plush furniture and apres-ski chic decor - each inspired by an iconic Four Seasons ski resort. Cuddle up with an ice-wine martini and a hot miso-buttered shellfish platter in the Whistler Suite, dig into an 18-oz. dry aged bone-in New York steak in the Jackson Hole Suite, or enjoy the smoked s’mores in the Vail Suite. Creative cocktails are also available, from the “Yo, You Got Beef!?” featuring Wagyu fat-washed bourbon, Cocchi sweet vermouth and spice tincture that's smoked tableside, to the “Marry Me Honey” - a riff on a hot toddy with Barr Hill gin, Fernet -Branca, rosemary, honey, and lemon. Make your Tock reservations.

Still Need Clarification on "Boughs" of Holly

If you pulled a Clark Griswold this year and brought shame to your family, there's still time to reclaim your dignity with some subtle holiday decor. Join Tudor Place (1644 31st St NW) on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 10 am - 11:30 am for a wreath-making workshop with all the trimmings. Craft your wreath from historic Tudor Place garden materials including holly, cedar and magnolia leaves to create that perfect wintery touch for any holiday celebration. Leave your wreath green or add bows, bells and berries to capture the spirit of the season. No experience required; workshop registration includes instructions and all materials needed for one wreath per participant. Pre-registration is required.

The OG Stitch Fix

Time to dig up that tiny thimble from your childhood Monopoly set. Join Evan Ibrahim and Tribute Collective for a Creative Mending workshop, Dec. 18 from 4 pm - 5 pm at Concept 31/M (3077 M St NW). During this workshop you'll learn different techniques and applications to mend small tears, holes, or rips in clothing - a valuable skill for day-to-day life that will also save you money and reduce your environmental footprint. From deciding what sort of stitch is best for the job, to how to manage different types of fabric, the workshop will cover it all. Bring one item of clothing for a mending consultation at the end of class, and leave inspired to tackle the project at home. If you're at Concept 31/M the day prior, Still Learning Co. is hosting a holiday lifestyle experience from 2 pm - 7 pm, featuring handmade specialty items by Allen Van Norden. Shop everything from pennant flags to artwork, while enjoying complimentary wine and champagne, and coffee from New Orleans caffeine staple Mammoth Espresso. The shop's top cigar choices will also be gifted with the purchase of a specialty cigar box.

Personal Wine Brand Casually Atop Piano

We prefer all our instruments come with a bottle of Chardonnay. Check out Marcus Johnson's annual holiday series at the legendary Blues Alley Jazz Club (1073 Wisconsin Ave NW), beginning Dec. 21 with 8 pm and 10 pm shows. The independent Billboard-ranked musician, NAACP Image Award nominee, owner of FLO Brands and FLO Wine, and philanthropist will be playing a total of nine shows as part of his Christmas residency, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to get in the holiday groove.
