Kitchen Confidential

A wine dispenser in the wall is starting to sound like a great idea to Alex Morrison. Consider it a hazard of the job. In this week's byGeorge blog, the bulthaup (3324 Cady's Alley) kitchen designer shares a showroom love affair, his unlikely path as one of only seven in his graduating class to leave the state, and why he considers himself a part-time master organizer and marriage counselor.

Left Cookies, Milk, and Our Number

Santa got ripped in the off-season. Paul Mason, otherwise known as Fashion Santa, is returning to the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown's Living Room Lobby Friday, December 6 from 5 pm - 7 pm. Enjoy complimentary s'mores, old fashion cocktails by Barrell Bourbon, and a hot chocolate bar while you mix and mingle with Kris Kringle. Donate $10 to Children's National 'Light Up Dr. Bear' campaign in exchange for a photo with the most dapper man in town.

Featuring a Santa with More of a...Dad Bod

More cookies, less crunches, we suspect. Head to the charming section of upper Wisconsin Avenue (from O St to Reservoir Rd) on Saturday, December 14 from 4 pm - 8 pm for A Book Hill Holiday. This free, family friendly event will feature a holiday snack and stroll with festive sips and bites at participating stores, photos with Santa (for kids and pets with paws!) at TD Bank's Winter Wonderland, live entertainment, in-store holiday events, promotions, and a festive trolley. You can also check out three Georgetown GLOW installations on Wisconsin Ave. while you're in the area!

How Bazaar, How Bazaar

Georgetown’s answer to IKEA, the annual Swedish Holiday Bazaar returns to the House of Sweden (2900 K St NW) Saturday, December 7 from 10 am – 5 pm. Sponsored by the Swedish Women’s Educational Association and supported by the Embassy of Sweden, the free bazaar will feature Swedish arts & crafts, crystal, textiles, artwork, books, and decorations, plus Swedish Christmas carols performed by the Santa Lucia Procession, home baked goods, and Swedish sandwiches.

The Cold Never Bothered Me Anyway

Witness what it looks like to actually have control on the ice at Winterfest at Washington Harbour, this Saturday, December 7 from 5 pm - 8 pm at 3000 & 3050 K St NW. Enjoy a performance from the Georgetown University Figure Skating Club, plus giveaways, a DJ, and food & beverage specials. Afterward, check out two nearby Georgetown GLOW light art installations: Tall Grasses at Washington Harbour, and Lightbattle in Georgetown Waterfront Park (Wisconsin & K St NW). The entire GLOW map is available here!

Stitch, Please

It's the thought that counts, right? If you're struggling to come up with the perfect holiday gift, take a stab at some arts and crafts. Join Shop Made in DC (1242 Wisconsin Ave NW) and Kate Blattner of Three Little Birds Sewing Co. on Dec. 9 from 6 pm - 8 pm for an intro to cross stitch. The beginner-friendly embroidery class will allow you to choose your own pattern, and is as modern or traditional as you want it to be. Click here to reserve your spot, and note at checkout which pattern you'd like to use for class.
