2020's Hottest Costume: Responsible Citizen

Good scary: festive decorations; bad scary: Halloween crowds during a pandemic. While there are no in-person Halloween gatherings in Georgetown's commercial district this year, consistent with guidance from the DC Health Department, there are other ways you can safely get in the spirit. Head down to Washington Harbour before Halloween night and check out the amazing decorations on display before grabbing something to eat along the waterfront. For fun without a spending fright, visit Kendra Scott Oct. 29 - 30 from 11 am - 5 pm, and spin the wheel to reveal a surprise discount. Afterward, it's no tricks and all the treats with a Halloween Double-Stuff Oreo Cupcake at Sprinkles, Chocolate Toffee Spider Web flavor at Georgetown Cupcake, and The Great Pumpkin Cakecup at Baked&Wired. For even more Halloween goodies, check out our full list of Georgetown bakeries.

Self-Portrait Heading Into November

This feels on brand. El Centro is helping you celebrate Halloween at home this year with a three-course meal and a ceramic sugar skull sip n' paint kit. The dinner for one includes chips and salsa, your choice of a three-taco entree with rice and beans, and either churros or a margarita - plus everything you need for the art part. If you're less concerned about painting inside the lines, add on a Sangria pitcher. Order now and pick up your kit Friday, Oct. 30 from 4 pm - 6 pm at their 1218 Wisconsin Avenue location.

Gonna Be a Hard Pass on that Extra Hour

Petition to set our clocks forward 1,464 hours on Sunday. If Daylight Saving Time is still happening, so is more Taste and Shop Georgetown time. We've extended our free, promotional event through Saturday, with nearly 40 participating Georgetown businesses still offering their specials and discounts, plus parking as low as $1 for the first 20 minutes and $5 all day at several parking garages. Take advantage of $5 cocktails, 50% off flatbreads and free dessert, grab a family-style meal to-go, or dine outside at one of our 20+ Streateries - then start your holiday shopping with up to 25% off at select shops. Don't miss the final few days!

For Those With a Strong Constitution

Come for the giant pretzel with queso, stay for the future of our nation. Church Hall (1070 Wisconsin Ave NW) is hosting an Election watch party Nov. 3 from 4 pm - 11 pm, featuring an all-night election happy hour and election results running on their big-screen TVs (with sound on). Contactless ordering via QR codes will be available at all tables - which are socially distanced - and advance reservations are available. All-night happy hour specials are $2 off and include red and blue frozen drinks, liters of Church Hall IPA, giant pretzels with queso, and ultimate nachos.

Got Anything Rose-Colored?

A blindfold sounds more appealing, but for those interested in seeing more clearly right now, this week Warby Parker launched their first-ever prescription bundle offer. Customers who purchase two or more pairs of prescription eyeglasses or sunglasses at any denomination will save 15%, now through the end of the year. The offer includes frames with progressive and blue-light-filtering lenses. Visit their website to pick out your frames; some restrictions apply.
