Extreme Makeover: Website Edition

We've got a new look! As part of the Georgetown brand refresh and new logo that we unveiled in June, we're so excited to finally share our redesigned website. It's extremely mobile-friendly, and has a more robust search tool, richer content, cleaner navigation, and fun new bells and whistles.

Check out some of the new website highlights below, then head to www.georgetowndc.com and start exploring!

The Daily Scoop

Look no further than our homepage for the latest news and announcements in Georgetown, featuring a 'What's New' section that highlights our four most recent posts. New content will be posted throughout the week, so you'll have plenty of reasons to return to the website, again and again.

Yellow Pages Meets 2019

Easily accessible from the top navigation on our homepage, or the colorful icon bar below it, our Business Directory allows you to search for Georgetown businesses by category type. Each listing includes a map, store description, and contact information, helping you navigate your way around Georgetown.

We're Pretty Booked

A new, interactive calendar allows you to search for Georgetown events and promotions by month, or day. Filter the calendar listings even further by category type--from Georgetown BID events, to food, fitness, shopping, and more. Georgetown BID signature events--including Georgetown GLOW and Georgetown French Market--are highlighted in our branded brick color, and also featured on our Annual Events page.

If you're a member of the Georgetown BID, and have an event or promotion you'd like to include on the calendar, simply click the 'Submit Event' button below the calendar and fill out the Google form.

Some Gentle Nudging

There’s so much to explore in Georgetown, from charming small businesses, to a recreational paradise on the waterfront. We've added a new Guides section to our website, with insider tips to get you started, depending on how long you have in Georgetown, and what interests you most!

In addition to our popular 25 Things to Do in Georgetown guide, check out new guides on Kid-Friendly Georgetown, the African-American Heritage Trail, Georgetown Movie Sites, and more.

Won't You Be Our Neighbor

Our new Georgetown Neighborhoods interactive map highlights eight neighborhoods within the larger Georgetown community--Book Hill, Wisconsin Avenue, M Street, Cady's Alley / Georgetown Design District, the Georgetown Waterfront, Georgetown University, and the residential neighborhood--each with their own distinct character and unique businesses. Select a neighborhood from a drop-down menu on the Neighborhoods homepage, or click on the map dot, for a short description of each neighborhood, and the option to explore further.

All About the 'Gram

Our digital presence goes far beyond the website, with thousands of engaged followers on social media. We've been so impressed with the beautiful and creative shots of Georgetown that we see everyday on Instagram, and wanted to share them more widely. A new Instagram module on our website displays the eight most recent Instagram posts from our @officialgeorgetowndc account, with additional, hashtag-specific Instagram feeds throughout the website highlighting everything from #GeorgetownGLOW to #GeorgetownSunsetCinema. Tag us on Instagram and you may make our homepage!

Additionally, we've added social sharing tools at the top of each event, guide, and news post. With one click, you can spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, or email.

Putting a Face to This Email Address

We previously managed a Georgetown BID microsite, but realized it made more sense to bring that content under the larger www.georgetowndc.com umbrella. Now you can visit the About section of our website to learn more about the organization behind it all--from our BID programs, to our Board of Directors, staff, and initiatives for the coming years.
