BLACK FRIDAY BARGAINS

Give Thanks for Payment Plans

So much shopping, so little energy after eating everything in sight. Trust us, it's worth putting The Crown on pause and heading to Georgetown on Nov. 30 for Small Business Saturday, where you can shop your way around the more than 30 participating shops and restaurants that are offering special promotions and events. Receive a Shop Small bag when you make a purchase at one of those locations, and you could win one of five golden tickets, redeemable for a $50 AMEX gift card! Visit our event page for details on each promotion, from 20% off purchases, to 25% off gift cards, and a free glass of wine, hot cocoa, or coffee while you shop.

GLOW Big or Go Home

Let's all guess how many times the word 'GLOW' will appear in the BIDness over the next five weeks. (We're going with 38.) The 6th edition of our annual light art exhibition begins December 6, but you can already catch a sneak peek of a few installations, including the illuminated poem every day at Georgetown Lutheran Church (part of which you can see above), and The Heron, which is currently being installed over the C&O Canal between the Potomac St. and Wisconsin Ave. bridges. The Georgetown GLOW installation map is also now on our website, so check that out, start planning your route to see all 11 pieces, and visit our Facebook page

Don't Rock the Gravy Boat

Super late to the tryptophan game and in search of last-minute Thanksgiving plans? There's still time. The Alex Speakeasy is hosting a Friendsgiving Feast tonight (Nov. 27) from 7 pm - 9 pm featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet. Cajun fried turkey for the win. On Thanksgiving day, Degrees Bistro is offering a Thanksgiving brunch from 10 am - 3 pm that's full of traditional favorites. For a waterfront holiday, head to Tony & Joe's Seafood place for an all you can gobble feast from 11 am - 5 pm, including Chesapeake Bay oysters and a smoked fish board. Or, check out Sequoia's bottomless buffet from 12 pm - 7 pm for prime rib, rack of lamb, and suckling pig.

So Blissfully Unaware They'll Be Eaten

Cookie monsters, all of you. Join Baked & Wired (1052 Thomas Jefferson St NW) on December 3 from 5 pm - 7 pm for a festive holiday cookie decorating party in their holiday lounge. Each participant will get three cutout cookies and plenty of frosting and sprinkles to create their masterpiece. Professional cookie elves will be on hand to offer assistance and inspiration. Coffee, hot chocolate and other seasonal beverages will be available for purchase at the coffee counter all night.

In our final This is My Georgetown video — a four-part series that follows some of DC's most interesting artists, business owners, and residents around their favorite parts of Georgetown — paddleboard enthusiast and Pink Line Project founder Philippa Hughes is showing you her  Georgetown with a behind-the-scenes look at a day out on the water.

And a Partridge in a Pear Toddy

We don't recommend drinking for 25 days straight — but we'll just leave this right here. Celebrate the season by the fireplace with a daily, rotating selection of 25 holiday cocktails at The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown's cozy Living Room, starting with a spiked hot chocolate on December 1. Return for a Ho Ho Ho-t Toddy, Gin-gle All the Way, Naughty or Spice, or whatever else your heart desires, all for $10 each.

Here for the Wreath Reasons

Get your Martha Stewart on (or whoever is actually relevant now) and join Fostr Collaborative (1027 33rd St NW) on December 3 from 6 pm - 8 pm to learn how to make a dry holiday wreath. The workshop will be led by Maria of Darling and Daughters, who's worked with floral, foliage, greenery and more across events, weddings, decor, and for the love of nature. Choose the style when you arrive, and enjoy cocktails and bites while you assemble your wreath.

Spread the Holiday Cheer

Pizzeria Paradiso (3282 M St NW) is teaming up with the Healthy Babies Project — an organization that helps at-risk DC families have healthy babies and escape the cycle of poverty — to “adopt” a family for the holidays. Bring a toy, gift or essential every day item to Pizzeria Paradiso now through December 9, and all items will be donated to their adopted families. In addition to feeling really good because you helped someone else, you'll also get a draft beer on the house!

Talk of the (George)Town

We can't get enough of the amazing latte art at Cafe Georgetown! If you have family in town for the holiday, bring them to this adorable coffee shop at 3141 N St and make your design requests.

Have a very happy, caffeinated Thanksgiving!
