Hiatus From Uncle Bob's Conspiracy Theories

Spending Thanksgiving alone feels sad, until you realize that - for one blessed year - your life choices are not up for family debate. Clyde's has you covered during the pandemic, offering a $32.99 meal for one - including turkey, sausage-sage stuffing, mashed potatoes, glazed sweet potatoes, green beans, gravy, and cranberry sauce, plus a slice of pie. Order by Nov. 22 and pick-up Thanksgiving day from 8am - 1pm. If you're not in the mood to cook, but have an immediate family to feed, Officina is serving turkey and prime rib to-go, with a la carte sides and desserts serving four to six diners. Sweet potato gnudi, foacaccia and black truffle stuffing, and coffee-soaked tiramisu add an Italian twist on the day. Preorder by 8 pm on Nov. 19, and pick-up from 1pm - 3pm on Nov. 25 and Thanksgiving Day. If a waterfront view is on the menu, head to Tony & Joe's and enjoy everything from roast beef and turkey, to salmon, shrimp cocktail, and clam chowder. For more Thanksgiving offerings, keep an eye on our promotions and events calendar.

Literally Home For the Holidays

It's a hard no on the pandemic mistletoe, and GLOW may not be happening until the Spring, but we're still bringing plenty of cheer to Georgetown this holiday season. Our festivities kick-off with an extended Small Business Saturday promotion from November 28 - December 12, when many of our small businesses will be offering special promotions, gifts with purchase, raffles, and more. Later this month, we'll also release our 2020 gift guides, highlighting curated items and experiences from Georgetown's shops, services and food retailers for all your holiday shopping needs. While you're shopping and enjoying the holiday wreaths and roof lighting throughout Georgetown, you can also cast your vote for the Georgetown Holiday Window & Streatery Competition, running the entire month of December. This year’s theme is Silver Linings, as businesses find festive, playful and creative ways to express the hope and positivity they’ve found in the midst of a challenging year. Stay tuned for additional details on this holiday programming!

On a First-Name Basis With Amazon Driver

If the Prime van is doing more neighborhood loops than the mail truck, maybe it's time to give some more local love. Join DC vendors and small businesses on the grounds of Dumbarton House (2715 Q St NW) this Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10 am - 4 pm for outdoor shopping at their Makers Market! Vendors will be spaced throughout the grounds with everything from candles to home goods and more. Come out, enjoy a beautiful fall day, and support local business - including Georgetown's Jaryam and T&U Mongolian Cashmere. COVID health and safety measures will be enforced.

Abbey Road: The 2020 Remix

While we await the inevitable extraterrestrial take-over to round out this year, let's embrace every bit of good news coming our way. Namely, that the $5 all-day parking special at 3307 M Street has been extended for the rest of the year! Take advantage of this amazing daily deal, where you can also get the first hour of parking for FREE. Take that extra cash and head straight for Pandora's Early Black Friday promo, where you'll get 35% off your purchases every Friday in November. Afterward, swing by Kendra Scott and celebrate World Kindness Day with their buy one jewelry style, get another free special, Nov. 13 - 15. Your parking rate is locked in for the day, so no need to rush home; make the most of your time in Georgetown with an outdoor meal at one of our 25+ Streateries. Check out the full list here.

Remember When We Could Walk in a Group?

On the bright side, face masks hide just how heavily you're breathing. Every year, Friendship Place hosts Friendship Walks - bringing awareness and resources to their work to end homelessness. The organization provides homeless outreach services throughout Georgetown and the greater DC region, and their work deserves our support. This year, they'll be walking virtually, and are asking you to commit to taking 9,763 steps a day with them during Homelessness Awareness Week, November 14 - 21. Register today, start fundraising, and get moving!
