Cream Sauce: A Love Story

Time to celebrate the 1.5 pounds we've lost in the new year. Winter Restaurant Week is back Jan. 17 - 23, featuring 13 Georgetown restaurants: 1789 Restaurant, Angolo Ristorante Italiano, Brasserie Liberte, Cafe Milano, El Centro D.F, Farmers Fishers Bakers, Filomena Ristorante, La Chaumiere, Officina, Ristorante Piccolo, The Sovereign, Susheria, and Tony & Joe's Seafood Place. Take advantage of $25 brunch and lunch menus, and prix-fixe dinners ($40 to $55), plus family-style meals to-go for two or four diners, and takeout, delivery, and heated outdoor seating options. Menu highlights include braised beef tortellini, steamed lobster, Belgian mussels, caramel cheesecake, and lemon custard pie. (Just maybe not all at once.) So Many Feelings, So Little Canvas

1 Espresso Away from Finally Learning Piano

A new source of caffeine to fuel those grossly unrealistic resolutions you've set for yourself. Bitty & Beau's coffee shop is scheduled to open this March at 3207 M St NW. The “human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop” largely employs those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The first Bitty & Beau's location opened in North Carolina in 2016, and has since been featured on The Today Show, Rachael Ray, CNN, and Good Morning America. Founder Amy Wright was even named 2017 CNN Hero of the Year. In addition to coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and smoothies, the shop will sell apparel and drinkware.

Dear Universe: All Set on the Creative Inspo!

Reallllyyyy looking forward to a return to those uncomplicated still lifes featuring a bowl of fruit. Join Washington Printmakers Gallery (1641 Wisconsin Ave NW) for their new exhibit, Harmony - 15 Interpretations, featuring fine art prints and photography from their 15 members. On display through Feb. 27, the show describes the artists’ responses to the present disharmony, created by polarizing politics, the lingering pandemic, climate change challenges and more, as they seek to achieve harmony in their own distinct ways. The gallery is open Friday and Saturday from 11 am - 5 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm - 4 pm.

We Feel Seen by This Orange

We'll pretend this is intended for children. The picture book How Are You Peeling? - featuring fruits and vegetables with big emotions - has been made into an outdoor story walk along the Georgetown Neighborhood Library's front gate (3260 R St NW). Inside the library, kids and adults can share how they're "peeling" that day by placing a sticker on the interactive board in the Children's Room. It's an innovative way for families to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time, and a great mental health check-in for all of us during year 3,000 of this pandemic. For more library events - both in-person and virtual - view their online calendar.
