One of Those Up-and-Coming Publications

Like one of those intense dance moms, we're about to do a not-so-humble brag. This month Vogue released a guide to the best small businesses in the country, in an effort to shine a spotlight on some of their favorite shops that are weathering the pandemic. With help from reader nominations, Vogue landed on just 18 stores nationwide - including Georgetown's very own Relish! According to the article, "...find yourself inside Relish and you’ll be surrounded by a wonderful (and sometimes whimsical) selection of fashion—from Dries Van Noten to Simone Rocha. Founded by Nancy Pearlstein 27 years ago, Relish is located in the heart of Georgetown in a modern multi-floor shop with polished concrete floors and sleek hardware railings. It’s frequented by a range of patrons looking for everything from Sofie D’Hoore to Undercover. There, you can find both minimally-minded pieces from Jil Sander, Joseph, and Lemaire, to more striking styles—a selection of looks from Molly Goddard’s colorfully bold spring 2021 collection and intricate one-of-a-kind pieces from Song for the Mute." We may be biased, but...what they said.

Art Show or Bust

We're old and tired, and know deep down that the most thrilling part of a museum visit is spotting an empty bench. Now picture that, except the bench is your couch, and you never have to get up. Calloway Fine Art & Consulting is hosting a new virtual exhibit, Classicism: Inside and Out, now through March 27. This two-person show features the meticulously drawn watercolors of Michael Hampton and the detailed photographs of Dale Goffigon, both of whom have felt the pull of classically-inspired architecture and interiors. Select works are also available for viewing and purchase at the gallery - located at 1643 Wisconsin Ave NW, in Georgetown's Book Hill neighborhood. All of the works in the exhibition can be ordered either through the website, or directly from the gallery. Literally sit back, relax, and enjoy the art.

An Open Letter to Gen Z

Been there, done that on the middle part. BOP news flash - it didn't work. If you've been personally victimized by TikTok teens who have an opinion on your hair (not to mention the laugh-cry emoji that we're taking to the grave), give that side part some love at La Veronique. The salon is celebrating its new, two-story location at 1208 31st St NW, and offers a full range of services - from hair care, to eyelash extensions and manicures. Present a valid student ID and get 20% off any service, or refer a friend and you'll both get 20% off your visit. For a full list of Georgetown salons and spas, visit our wellness directory

Gotta Let the Calves Breathe

One 60-degree day this week, and we're seeing a questionable amount of shorts. If yesterday's sunshine and relative warmth put you in the mood for all things outdoors, head to Big Wheel Bikes at 1034 33rd St NW. The shop is at the end of Cady's Alley, next to the C&O Canal bike path, where you can rent a bike for as little as three hours, or take one out for the day or week. Explore Georgetown's waterfront on two wheels, or check out the Capital Crescent Trail for some quality nature time. If you're ready to buy a bike of your own, or have one in need of some TLC, stop by Bicycle Pro Shop or Trek BikesDistrict Cycle Works also offers bicycle and gear consults, by appointment only.
