We tend to want what we want when we want it, right? Our agendas are most important. Our preferences are all that matter. What we value is what everyone should value. Only our political opinions matter.
Take a look at John 5:19. "Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does."
Um, what? Do you catch what Jesus is saying here? It connects with what we talked about last week when we saw Jesus agonizing in prayer in the garden before saying, "not My will, but Thine."
How often do you pray like that? How often do we say, "it's about obeying God and doing what He wants that matters so that's what I'm going to do?"
When we discover God's plans and jump on board, he blows us away with amazing, exponential results. It's the way God works. We think in terms of addition when God works in multiplication. We tell Him our plans, we pray for our plans and we ask Him to bless our plans when we should be asking Him to show us His plans. We miss out on so much when we do that!
Sunday, we will continue to see how God plants things and then brings results later and greater. We'll continue to think about our puny, little mustard-seed faith and God's promise of what He does with it.
I'm hoping you'll be able to join us. This stuff is really life-changing and for the good, if we will only act on that little seed of faith planted in our hearts.
Bundle up this weekend and check on elderly neighbors and shut-ins, we've got a cold snap coming.
Join us Sunday morning at 8:45 for breakfast and discussion round tables. Everyone is welcome!
