Do you think Jesus had self-discipline? How about Paul? How about you? When I read "12 By now you should be teachers. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the first things you need to know from God’s Word. You still need milk instead of solid food," in Hebrews 5, and chew on its meaning (meditate on it) I cannot help but conclude that it is yet another example of Scripture telling us we should be growing and maturing as Jesus followers.

Self-discipline is difficult. It's difficult in diet, in study, in our professional lives, in our relationships and in every goal for change. We all want quick results without effort. We want the peace of God without seeking it. We want to feel God's presence without walking in it. We want God's blessings without surrender and obedience to His word.

Sunday we continue into discipline #2 in our Celebration of Discipline series: prayer. I am looking forward to it because I tend to pray using lots of words and very little listening. I want to change that but I know it will take self-discipline and learning new habits. How about you?

Have you tried meditating on God's Word, his creation or any of the things around you this week to see God working? This scene in South Paris today made me think, "If my God can do this, is there anything impossible for Him?" Meditating on the majesty of his creation gave me an overwhelming sense of confidence in God's power and creativity.

I hope we'll see you Sunday as we grow closer to one another and closer to our awesome, amazing and gracious God.

God Bless,
Scott Linscott
Lead Pastor
