I was watching Ralphie decode his secret message with his secret decoder ring while his brother was pounding on the door to get into the bathroom. Spoiler alert ... "Be sure to drink your Ovaltine" was the message. He had waited so long and for the secret message and ended up with a "crummy commercial."

Have you ever noticed how we do the same thing sometimes with God? We wait and wait and wait for the secret, mystery message. Some people go to fortune tellers looking for their secret message. Some read their horoscopes. Some want every dream to have a secret meaning. Meanwhile, our dusty bibles sit on the shelf.

Sunday morning we will be talking about the Spiritual Discipline of Guidance. As I have been studying to prepare my teaching I've come across a lot of focus on the mysterious, supernatural stuff more than the stuff right in plain sight. I even found that in Foster's book, with his Quaker roots. I've found myself wincing a lot as everyone looks for a sign, lays down fleeces and begs to hear the voice of God. So, let's talk about it Sunday. In a nutshell, special, supernatural, secret messages are very rare and ALWAYS need to be tested against the clear and direct teaching of God's Word.

I hope you will be able to join us.

Love you guys,
Scott Linscott
Lead Pastor

I hope you're planning to stop in to see the incredible craft fair that Afton Morton puts together each year. Last year we raised $2000 to support the Westbrook drug addiction program! This year the funds raised will benefit our work in Guatemala and our April 2020 trip. It's 10-3 at the church building. Come check out the baked goods even if you're not crafty.

Now is a great time to invite friends and neighbors to join us for a traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight service with organ music and Christmas Carols. It is always a special time.

We delivered 31 baskets and $750 for school food pantries, $400 for the Westbrook Drug Recovery Program and $250 for My Place Teen Center.  It is such a wonderful way to let our community public servants know that we are FOR them and appreciate all they do! Thank you to all who gave to our Special Thanksgiving offering for this project!

Use the card swap box at the very back of the main auditorium to save postage. Also, be sure to check it to see if you have cards waiting for you.
