Imagine for just a moment...

Imagine that things are different. Imagine that the government has been overthrown, our protections are gone and everything is in turmoil. Imagine our wives and daughters taken from our homes. Imagine more than 100 groups warring for power and control. Can you even imagine it? I don't think I can. But that is the reality in other parts of our world.

I have tried to imagine. I have wondered what I would do to try to protect my family. I have thought maybe we would try to get to Canada but roadblocks and checkpoints would make traveling the highways too dangerous. How would we possibly escape with our four, precious grandchildren?

Maybe, if we actually reached Canada, we would try for England. Would England let my family in? We're good people. We have advanced degrees among us. We have teachers and a doctor among us. Maybe they would welcome us because we can contribute? It could be our only hope.

I don't want to leave all my friends and extended community. I love my country and my life here. I don't want to leave but I want to save the people I love. If we stay we die but if we leave we maybe die. What choice do we have? (2 Kings 7:4)

If we can just find the Christians, they will surely help us, right? We're family in the body of Christ and Scripture is very clear that we are to support each other. But what if England says no? What if the church shuts its doors on us?

Wow. Scary story, right?

This is the story of many of our brothers and sisters in our 12:30 service. Many are from the DRC which is 95% a Christian nation. Their stories are amazing and some are downright horrific.

I'm VERY excited about Sunday morning's service. That's all I'll say. I hope you will be able to make it. The Lord has put us in a very unique position here in Westbrook and given us some substantial challenges. Thankfully, God never leaves us on our own when he gives us the opportunity to trust Him on His Word!

Love you guys,
Scott Linscott
Lead Pastor

PS - Plan to join us in March as we focus on God's heart for children. We have children in our families, children in our church family, children in our state, nation and children all over the globe. God loves them all. We have tremendous opportunities to change the world by loving kids like God loves them.
