Dear Good Shepherd Family,

On July 25th, we will be starting a new teaching series called “Oneness & Witness: Jesus’ Vision for His Church.” During this series we will be sharing the vision for our next season of life together as a church. As part of it, we will move into a new phase for on-campus and on-line services for the rest of the summer that we are calling: “Go Big (Safely)!”

Grab your blanket and your lawn chairs for worship and teaching together! Starting the weekend of 7/25-7/26, we are going to GO BIG (SAFELY) by gathering OUTSIDE for our on-campus weekend services. This removes the need for registration and allows EVERYONE to safely attend any service they are comfortable attending. As part of this, we are moving to NEW SERVICE TIMES OF 5PM SATURDAY AND 9AM AND 10:45AM SUNDAY.

We plan to follow the guidelines communicated to us by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s office for outside gatherings. These include:

  • Encouraging people to sit together with people they already feel safe with. This could mean people only from your immediate family, or a larger group with whom you feel safe.
  • Each grouping of people is limited to no more than 25 people.
  • Each grouping of people must be 6 feet apart from other groupings.
  • Our staff and volunteers who are serving before and after services will wear masks when they are not able to maintain 6-foot social distancing from others.
  • While the new outdoor mask requirements in Oregon do not apply to churches, we encourage and will provide masks to those over the age of 12 who choose not to maintain 6-foot social distancing from people outside their grouping.
  • Bring your own lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. We will have large tents set up to shield you from the sun.
  • We will resume kids’ ministry activities soon after we begin these outdoor gatherings (hopefully the week of 8/1-8/2). The GS Kids Team will be communicating their detailed plans to families.
  • If you are not yet comfortable gathering with us in person, and we understand many people are not, especially those with underlying health conditions, we are going to provide GREATLY IMPROVED ONLINE SERVICES created specifically for our at-home audience for you to worship with us AT HOME. In the event of bad weather, we will all enjoy these greatly improved online services and worship at home.

No matter what comes, let’s continue to be the light of the world and the salt of the earth by the grace of God. Let’s continue to share our faith, hope and love with a world that desperately needs it.

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope” (Romans 15:13).

Thank you for your partnership in the mission and vision of our church. We love you very much and long to see you!

Your Executive Pastors

Steve Keels, Paul Norquist and Greg Cahalan
