Church Access Construction Update

Highway 212 between Boring and Highway 26 is under construction from Aug. 10th – Aug. 22nd.

As a result of this construction, access to our back (south) road on Hwy 212 will have restricted access - however, we will still be able to use the back (south) road for church on Saturday and Sunday.

We will only be able to access our back road from the west coming from Boring.  We will not be able access our road from Hwy 26. You can use any of the country roads that lead to Boring (examples: Hwy 212 from Damascus, 282nd, Orient or Haley Rd) and then head east on Hwy 212 to our access our back road.

This detour and closure is most likely going to be effective for the next two weekends (Aug. 15/16 and Aug. 22/23), but we will communicate and keep everyone updated via email and the church website.

Local Outreach Opportunities

THANK YOU for the overwhelming outpouring of generosity in responding to the local outreach opportunities. Here are a few more opportunities we are asking for this week.

  • We are collecting cards and/or pictures of encouragement for the First Responders.
  • The Gresham First Image Pregnancy Resource Center has requested some new or gently used fall/winter items for newborn to 18 months as well as new or gently used fall/winter maternity clothing (especially coats). You can bring items to the church office, purchase from the Local Outreach Wishlist or donate to the Gresham center directly here.

First Responder House
It’s time to restock the shelves in the First Responder House! Your food donation makes such a huge impact letting our officers know that we care and support them during these especially confusing, traumatic times. The house offers a place of solace and safety and you get to be a part of creating that atmosphere. Bring food donations to Good Shepherd's front office during the week clearly marked “First Responders”. If you prefer, you may also order from the Local Outreach Amazon Wishlist and have the items sent directly to the church! Requested items in order of need: bottled water, protein bars, meat products like jerky, pepperoni sticks, protein shakes/drinks, candy bars, frozen burritos, ice cream bars, cheese sticks, chips, cookies.

You’ll discover that you’re not alone in your grief and what you’re going through is normal. This is a one time event; our regular Grief Share class will begin in September.

Bless Your Neighbors With Free Food Boxes

When: Pickup this Thursday, 5-5:30pm
Where: GSCC campus
What: We have the opportunity again this week to distribute free boxes of local, farm fresh groceries that may include things like a gallon of milk, a pound of butter, 2 packs of Swiss cheese slices, 2 smoked ham steaks, a bag of onions, Romaine lettuce, celery, and sometimes strawberries! Last week you distributed 250 boxes of food and we are already hearing stories of what a tremendous and timely blessing this was to many in our community!! YOU pickup the boxes and choose who you would like to deliver them to. It’s always fun to serve together, so don’t hesitate to reach out to your small group community and pray through some people your group is connected to that you could bless! What an amazing way to say "we care about you" to our neighbors, friends, or family and lighten the grocery budget for a week, especially in these unprecedented times.

Please sign up by this Sunday, and let us know how many boxes you would like to deliver to your neighbors so we can order them!!
