An Update on GS Kids
Click the picture above to watch our video.

GS Kids wants to partner with parents as they disciple their child(ren) by providing a safe place for those child(ren) to be with friends. August 8th and 9th we will be offering cohorts for kids.

Parents, you will be able to register your kid(s) for a Good Shepherd Kids Cohort and a service time. Your child(ren) can only come to the time you choose to register for your family to attend. This group is a Good Shepherd group – so it’s all about friends learning to live life with Christ. Our prayer is that God will use these groups to form deep, lifelong friendships.

To be a safe place, we are committed to diligent/on-going disinfecting, using LOTS of hand sanitizer, soap and water, and providing individual supplies per kid.

For those that are not ready to come back yet, we will still be doing our full online experience for your family. Check out for videos, parent activity guides, Spotify playlists, and weekly devotions.

We will also have participation packets for your kids when they attend church outside with you. Look for balloons and some of our great Good Shepherd Kids team.

It is an honor to be a part of your family’s life. Thanks for being a part of the Good Shepherd family,

Daniel Carnahan

First Responder House
It’s time to restock the shelves in the First Responder House! Your food donation makes such a huge impact letting our officers know that we care and support them during these especially confusing, traumatic times. The house offers a place of solace and safety and you get to be a part of creating that atmosphere. Bring food donations to Good Shepherd's front office during the week clearly marked “First Responders”, or during the weekend to the kitchen on the silver rack near the dishwashing area. If you prefer, you may also order from the Local Outreach Amazon Wishlist and have the items sent directly to the church! Requested items in order of need: bottled water, protein bars, meat products like jerky, pepperoni sticks, protein shakes/drinks, candy bars, frozen burritos, ice cream bars, cheese sticks, chips, cookies.

Grief Share - Loss of Spouse Seminar
This event was created to help men and women grapple with the challenges of being widowed. The seminar features a 35 minute video that’s filled with moving stories, practical advice, and a variety of perspectives on spousal loss. You’ll discover that you’re not alone in your grief and what you’re going through is normal. This is a one time event; our regular Grief Share class will begin in September.

Local Outreach Opportunities

THANK YOU for the overwhelming outpouring of generosity in responding to the local outreach opportunities. In the last couple of weeks, you provided ALL the requested shoes for kids at Davis; books for the Davis book van; clothing and bible concordances for the Jail ministry; food for the First Responder house; donations for the Multnomah Right to Life Yard Sale; and diapers and soap for refugee families in Rockwood... WOW! You are incredible and each outreach has expressed it’s gratitude for your care and support of their ministries! Here are a few more opportunities we are asking for this week.

  • We are collecting cards and/or pictures of encouragement for the First Responders.
  • Books (new or gently used) for the summer book van at Davis Elementary. You can drop them off at the church front desk during office hours through August 6th.
  • Jim Southwick could use 10-14 more volunteers (no more than 15) to help in the Davis Elementary garden next Tuesday morning between 7:00 - 8:00 AM. They would need to bring water, tools, gloves and masks. They would sign a waiver as well. There is access to a restroom. Please contact Jim at if you are able to volunteer. Thank you!
  • A fun update: We were looking for a couple of volunteers to assist our GSCC local outreach staff, Allen and Penny Abrahamson, with hand addressing and writing notes for an outreach mailing to 400 Jewish people. However, here is a note note from Allen and Penny Abrahamson: We were surprised and very grateful to have received a text from Hannah Guilleux, a 15-year-old girl who goes to Barlow High School. Her mother, Femy Guilleux, told her about what you had posted on Facebook about perhaps helping us. Hannah decided she would write 150 of the messages on the sticky note gift pads and address that many envelopes. We also received a phone call from Jackie Henderson yesterday. She and her husband Michael asked if they could write 200 of the messages and envelopes for us! Thank you to them and to the GSCC church body!!

Bless Your Neighbors With Free Food Boxes

When: Pickup this Thursday, 5-5:30pm
Where: GSCC campus
What: We have the opportunity again this week to distribute free boxes of local, farm fresh groceries that may include things like a gallon of milk, a pound of butter, 2 packs of Swiss cheese slices, 2 smoked ham steaks, a bag of onions, Romaine lettuce, celery, and sometimes strawberries! Last week you distributed 250 boxes of food and we are already hearing stories of what a tremendous and timely blessing this was to many in our community!! YOU pickup the boxes and choose who you would like to deliver them to. It’s always fun to serve together, so don’t hesitate to reach out to your small group community and pray through some people your group is connected to that you could bless!  What an amazing way to say "we care about you" to our neighbors, friends, or family and lighten the grocery budget for a week, especially in these unprecedented times.

Please sign up by this Sunday, and let us know how many boxes you would like to deliver to your neighbors so we can order them!!
