March newsletter 2016

Dear friends,

March was a very busy month. This was majorly because of finalizing the research report on the vulnerability of internally displaced persons to trafficking. The launch of the report was held on the 22nd of March and it saw a gathering of diverse people working trafficking and migration issues. Representatives from the internally displaced persons community were also present. We were honored to have the country director of GIZ in the launch amongst other dignitaries.
This research was made possible by the support of GIZ Civil Peace Service office and we are very grateful for this.

Apart from the research, this month we had a couple of trainings organized by our partners.Of most significance was a training on safety and security organized by AGEH. Others include a radicalization workshop organized by Misereor and our very own training of trainers which targeted people in the local community. This particular workshop aimed at empowering a section of the local community so that in turn they could also create awareness in their broader communities.

The normal workshop programs and therapy sessions went on as well. In the month of April, we will have alot of preparations for a2es 2016.

This month you can read about the Displacement, Violence and Vulnerability: Trafficking among Internally Displaced Persons in Kenya research. You can also read an article on the same by one of the researchers who was involved in the process.

Sincerely,

HAART Team
