St. Brigit Community in Transition

May 27, 2019
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Please pray the following Prayer for Transition of Clergy Leadership as part of your daily devotions:

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church and so guide the minds of those who shall choose an Interim Priest and a Vicar for this congregation that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen"

Last week we looked at Loss and Preparation. This week takes us to The Search and Call & Start.

Stage 3: The Search

Issue:  Find the right person to lead for the future.
Emotional Content: Anticipation & Excitement
Leadership Task: Find the best leader with the right skills for mission shaped future.
Danger:  Rebound or clone selection
To Do:  Interview Training

Stage 4: Call & Start

Issue: Bonding
Emotional content: Enthusiasm and euphoria
Leadership Task:  Welcome and establish working relationship
Danger: The Messiah has come
To Do: Celebration of a New Ministry

Obviously we are not at stages 3 and 4 yet but, it does give us awareness of what is to come…next week, stages 5 and 6 for Adjustment and Re-Visioning.

Laugh for the Day

A person speaking at a Pastoral Search Committee Meeting:
“Basically, we’re looking for an innovative pastor with a fresh vision who will inspire our church to remain exactly the same!”

Peg Nelson, Bishop’s Warden

The Diocese requires brief answers to 12 questions as part of the search process for a new interim or vicar.  Please review the answers and if you have strong feelings about them, contact Paul Kelly at no later than 5 PM on Saturday June 1.

The answers developed by the Profile Committee can be found by clicking here.

Welcome Books and Welcome Cards

There are updated Welcome Books and Cards that are ready for use in welcoming new people. The Cards are in the back of each of the chairs and the Books are on the table underneath the name tags.  We are such a welcoming community and many thanks to Eileen for updating these to make our welcome more timely.

We Need A Champion!

Our loan library needs some reorganization, updating and care from a person who has a heart for this particular ministry. If you are interested, talk to Peg, Bishop’s Warden.
Thank you.

This is God's Church and we are in God's hands and that's a really good place to be!
