St. Brigit Community in Transition

September 30, 2019
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Please pray the following Prayers for Transition of Clergy Leadership as part of your daily devotions:

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church and so guide the minds of those who shall choose an Interim Priest and a Vicar for this congregation that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen"

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church, and so guide the mind of those who shall choose a vicar for this congregation, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen".

As many of you know, we are not the only church  in transition. Holy Comforter Episcopal Church is in this process for choosing a Rector. The Bishop’s Committee Community through Deacon Bookie received this attached audio sermon given at a  recent Sunday service and recommended we listen to it.  After doing so, I felt strongly that this is pertinent to our entire community of faith.  SO, as you listen substitute St. Brigit  for Holy Comforter and Felicia for Rev. Kim and I believe you will find wisdom, support and much love for this time we are experiencing together.

It has come to my attention that my announcement regarding the search a few Sundays ago was not clear enough or the word did not get passed on to those who were not there.

For full transparency here is the information:

We are not at this time continuing to search for a Vicar.

Bishop Kym Lucas has “changed horses in mid stream” to our benefit and we will be having an Interim Priest for a year. Her reason for this change is very clear….the candidates for a vicar position are few and far between and she has recommended an interim who she feels will be a good fit for us so we can move forward.

The Bishop’s Committee Community will be meeting this person on OCT. 6, 2019 at the church. We recognize this is the Blessing of The Animals Day, however we would appreciate the church and grounds being vacated at NOON as the BCC time with this individual will commence at 12:30. The BCC will be conducting an interview with the Interim candidate and will notify the Bishop of our decision to have her call this person to be the Interim at St. Brigit or if we need to continue as we have been with supply priests.

If the BCC makes a positive recommendation to the Bishop a letter agreement will be initiated between the Interim, St. Brigit Church and  the Bishop.  At that time the Interim will be introduced to all of you, we will have a celebration and we will begin a new chapter in the life of St. Brigit. The timing  for the letter of agreement will not take long but it is a process that comes from the Office of the Bishop.

Thank you for your patience, your prayers, thoughts and good wishes.

“Difficult times have helped me to understand better than before how infinitely rich and beautiful life is in every way and that so many things that one goes worrying about are of no importance whatsoever.”  Isak Dinesen
