St. Brigit Community in Transition

October 8, 2019
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Please pray the following Prayers for Transition of Clergy Leadership as part of your daily devotions:

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church and so guide the minds of those who shall choose an Interim Priest and a Vicar for this congregation that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen"

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church, and so guide the mind of those who shall choose a vicar for this congregation, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen".

As many of you know, we are not the only church  in transition. Holy Comforter Episcopal Church is in this process for choosing a Rector. The Bishop’s Committee Community through Deacon Bookie received this attached audio sermon given at a  recent Sunday service and recommended we listen to it.  After doing so, I felt strongly that this is pertinent to our entire community of faith.  SO, as you listen substitute St. Brigit  for Holy Comforter and Felicia for Rev. Kim and I believe you will find wisdom, support and much love for this time we are experiencing together.

Interim Priest Candidate Interview

As many of you are aware, the Bishop’s Committee Community interviewed an interim priest candidate Sunday afternoon. This evening, Tuesday Oct. 8, BCC will be meeting to discuss the interview process and make a decision regarding the candidate either being called to St. Brigit or not being called.

If we believe this candidate to be called to St. Brigit, there is an involved process with the Diocese  to make this happen. PLEASE DO NOT BE OVERLY ANXIOUS ABOUT THE LENGTH OF TIME THIS MAY TAKE.

We have requested the turn around time to be fairly quick and to have a person with us by Nov. 1st. Until that time or the time determined by Bishop Kym, we will continue with a supply priest through October and into November of needed.

Our budget is fairly thin and in order to hire an interim priest, we will need financial assistance from the Diocese. As a Mission Church, this is an avenue that the Diocese can assist us with in the normal course of business.  However, I doubt it takes place overnight.

Once the finances are clear, a letter of agreement will be drawn up  between the interim priest, St. Brigit and  the Diocese.  At that time, unless we receive permission prior to that signing, the name of the interim priest will not be available. If, this evening, BCC determines this candidate is a good fit for st. Brigit,  I will request permission  for the name to be given to the congregation now rather than at the letter of agreement signing.

Please continue to pray for the members of the BCC….their prayerful work continues each day ….  also, please tell them they are appreciated.  There have been hours and hours of work in which they have willingly participated and that time is not yet over.
