FORGED IN LOVE,
CONTINUING IN GRACE

St. Brigit Community in Transition

August 5, 2019

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord,
plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you a hope and a future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Please pray the following Prayer for Transition of Clergy Leadership as part of your daily devotions:

"Almighty God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on your Church and so guide the minds of those who shall choose an Interim Priest and a Vicar for this congregation that we may receive a faithful pastor who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen"

UPDATE ON VICAR SEARCH

I am reminded of a book that I have been reading: Congregational Leadership In Anxious Times by Peter L. Steinke. The subtitle of the book is “Being Calm and Courageous No Matter What.” What a great topic for this issue of Transitions.

While we were anticipating interviewing two candidates for Vicar, we will at this time be interviewing one of the candidates. Yes, unexpected for both us and the potential candidate. The person feels called by the Holy Spirit to take a different direction in ministry. And, we all know that if we truly listen with prayer and discernment that the Holy Spirit will lead us to the place God has set aside for us.

So, Being Calm and Courageous No Matter What seems to be the calling of your Bishop’s Committee Community.  We are moving forward with the next interview for August 22 and 23rd. Please watch the Celtic Courier, the Weekly Update and the Sunday Bulletin for information on the dates and times when the church building and the grounds will not be available for use by parishioners at St. Brigit.  The times are limited but, it is important that the Bishop’s Committee Community preserve these times of confidentiality. We are aware that the Brigit Bounty Gala In The Garden is in the evening of August 23rd and have been working with the planners so there will not be a conflict in use of space.

Continue to pray for the Holy Spirit to guide Nancy, Megan, Laura, Susan, Paul and Peggy as they continue to prayerfully discern for
the person God has planned for us as our Vicar.

“The world is round and the place which may seem like the end may also be only the beginning”.  Ivy Baker Priest
