This Week at Grimsley
Monday, October 5th - PTSA College Planning Info Session (see below)
Friday October 9th - Drive-Through Eligibility Packet Drop Off (see below)

Late Assignments
Beginning October 5th, if you submit an assignment late, after the due date, you MUST email your teacher to notify them that you have submitted the assignment after the due date. If you do not email the teacher, the assignment may not be accepted or graded.

Important Password Information
In an effort to protect student ID number security, Technology Services has created an alias that shows up as the student address in place of their student ID number. This is seamless with most of our products – they log in with their ID number, as usual, but their ID number does not show up.

· The public facing “alias” is their Lastname+firstinitial+last4digits of StudentID# *

· This created a bit of a hiccup with Google Products. If they are experiencing difficulty with Google products, have them login here: with this and then they should be good. **

The best daily practice is Login to Canvas, Google and Microsoft Teams daily in three Google Chrome Tabs

1. Username: Student ID number

2. Username:

3. Username:

* Student alias convention: Last name + First Initial + Last four of Student ID. When a student has two last names in PowerSchool (hyphenated or not), both names will be included in the email. In the instances where students have the same login, a letter will be added from the first name of the student until a match no longer exists. Example: Ashley Smith-Lee may be and

** If students use instead of the GCS Google login link above, they will have to first put in their GCS Google login (example:, and they will then be redirected to the single sign-on which will require their GCS Microsoft login.

College Prep Information Session
The PTSA Parent and Student Education Committee will host David Sullivan with University Prep Tutoring for an informative virtual session on October 5 at 7:00 pm. His presentation will include standardized testing (including what "optional" means), along with information on some education trends and then discuss the college application process, in general, and how students should go about making their college list and how to beef up their "college resume". He will also provide some additional college resources for parents and students. It's slightly geared for parents of juniors, but the information can be used by parents of any high school student. It lasts about 30 minutes, including some Q&A. We will record the session and post the link after! Below is the Zoom link.

Computers Needed!
During the last PTSA meeting we heard of the continuing need for laptops/computers for Grimsley Families. GCS has distributed all devices available. Fortunately, GHS has a deal with Computer Repair of Greensboro to wipe clean any donated computer, as well as update them, to be compatible to current technology needs for GCS 2020-2021 learning.
Please keep this in mind if you have any extra non used devices at home!!

Attention Juniors and Seniors!
Herff Jones needs your help to ensure you get all of the necessary information about Class Rings and Senior Supplies, including the cap and gown required for graduation.
There are a couple of ways to get the information to them:
Text: Text the word CONTACT to 70934
Here’s a video message from Chris Wieczorek from Herff Jones:

Yearbooks are now $75.00! Please do not be concerned with the length of the book. The staff intends to produce a book well over 200 pages. If sporting events are cancelled, we will still showcase the athletes of those sports. Though we are not yet physically in the classrooms, we also have innovative ways to cover academics. We will not let you down. This year is too unique and memorable not to have a recorded history of it. Order early:

Senior Portraits
Any seniors who have not yet signed up for senior photos should do so ASAP with Prestige Portraits. The information is on the school website. No other photographers’ pictures will appear in the senior section due to our contract. You are always welcome to take pictures elsewhere, but those will be for your personal use.  Again, we cannot use them in the Whirligig. Both formal and casual pictures are taken.
For information on COVID protocol during photography sessions, see

Senior Yearbook Ads
Senior ads are also still available. For those parents who already reserved space, please contact Ms. Rozelman about completing those ads in the next few weeks if at all possible.
Show your love for your graduating student, and commemorate their journey with a yearbook recognition ad, easily designed by you.

Full-page ads are $300; half-page ads are $200; and quarter-page ads are $150. You can design your own ads, saved as a jpg at 300 dpi; however, the yearbook staff are more than happy to create the ads for you. The ads are not submitted to Jostens until we have your approval. You can email Ms. Rozelman digital photos and scanned photos .
