NC A&T's 2022 Summer High School Transportation Institute
NC A&T's 2022 Summer High School Transportation Institute is the oldest in the nation. This summer we’ll be celebrating our 30th anniversary. Designed with the goal of increasing the diversity of the transportation workforce, these programs operate all over the country thanks to the Federal Highway Administration and the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century. Students will experience a slew of STEM and transportation activities and lectures alongside personal and career development, SAT prep, local and overnight field trips, and hands-on learning through group projects and other experiences. Through all of these activities and the connections they’ll make with transportation professionals, students will get a peek into what a career in transportation could look like for them.
Our 2022 session is a four-week long, in-person, non-residential/commuter program operating from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, from July 11 to August 5. Students will receive a weekly stipend to help offset the potential loss of summer job hours and there is absolutely no cost of attendance besides their time.
In order to be eligible for the program, students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and be a rising junior or senior in high school. Additionally, they must complete the following items. •
- Send an official transcript to Nicholas Allen at nrallen1@ncat.edu
- Send one letter of recommendation (two, if possible) from a counselor and/or teacher to nrallen1@ncat.edu
- Complete the online application found at https://bit.ly/STI-30, including a 250-word essay.
