Welcome to Whirlie Nation.  It is my pleasure to welcome you all to Grimsley and the PTSA.  My name is Tammy Lea-Hill, I am serving as VP of Membership.  Thanks to everyone that has joined PTSA. 

Please join PTSA to support our teachers, staff and students. Students can also join PTSA as well as grandparents.  A portion of the money raised by your membership goes back into the school to support/fund different programs for staff and students.  You can join online as well as paper forms located in the office.  The cost of membership is, $8 for parents/guardians, staff and $6 for students.

We still need a few volunteers for coat check at Homecoming Dance next Saturday (September 24th), especially during the second shift! This is actually a super fun volunteer opportunity and it's great to see the kids dressed up and having a good time.
If your student is worried about you spying on them at the dance you can assure them you will be hidden away in a closet during your shift and won't cramp their style.

Grimsley/Page Rivalry Tennis for Teachers Tournament: Sunday, October 9 at 1:30pm (Rain Date 10/16 at 1:30pm) at Grimsley Courts. Profits from the tournament will raise funds for both schools' PTSAs.

  • All players must either:
    • have a child currently enrolled in or an alumnus of Grimsely/Page or
    • be an employee at Grimsely/Page or
    • be an alumnus of Grimsley/Page
  • Women's double partners will play a round-robin format playing 8 games versus each opponent. Minimum of 3 rounds for each pair.
  • Courts will be coordinated by these NTRP ratings: 3.0 & below / 3.5 / 4.0 & above. (If partners are different levels, the higher level prevails.)
  • Fee: $30 per player, 60$ per team and register on Memberhub (
  • Entry deadline: October 2, 2022. There are a limited number of team slots. Registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Learning Hub is Back! The Nationally recognized Learning Hub is back and better than ever! The Learning Hub will be held after school Monday thru Friday, beginning September 26, 2022. Learning Hub hours are 4:30-6:30. The Learning Hub provides 1 on 1 tutoring, spaces for Social Emotional Learning, and great meals…Pizza Hut, Chick-fil-A, Honey Baked Ham, and Zaxby’s. All are welcome! See you there!
  • Grimsley Picture Days:
  • Junior Class Rings: On Sept 21, during Seminar, the Junior Class will meet to get information about ordering class rings. Ring orders will be taken 9/29 after school (in Main Building) and 10/8, 10am – 12. A deposit is required to place an order.
  • On Campus College Visits: Juniors and seniors, please check your student emails for counseling updates including scholarships and college and career info.
    • UNC Chapel Hill's Morehead Cain Scholarship Nominee Application is due next week.

  • September is Attendance Awareness Month! #schooleveryday. We cannot stress enough the importance of making sure students are at school on time and in class everyday! If your student will be or has been absent make sure you are communicating with Ms. Peterson in the Attendance Office.   • Grimsley’s Yearbook: The 2022 Whirligig, Grimsley’s yearbook, is on sale right now for $75. Go to
  • Homecoming Weekend: Our Homecoming Football Game vs Northwest, September 23rd, Jamieson Stadium. Tickets can be purchased through
  • The 2022 Homecoming Dance will be held at Piedmont Hall on September 24th. 
  • Miles for Matthew: The 14th annual Miles for Matthew will take place on Saturday, September 24. We are looking for runners and volunteers! If interested, please connect with Madame Greiner or visit
  •  Ultimate Frisbee Club: The Ultimate Frisbee Club meets each Friday after school. See Mr. SanGeorge  in room 411 or add the Remind code @grimsleyul to join the fun!
  • GCS Lunch Application – Free or Reduced Lunch The application window for free school meals is now open. The federal program that provided free meals for students for the past two years is over. Families will now have to apply for free school meals. Filling out an application is easy and can be found on our website or at .

Keep the week of June 5 open and free of scheduling conflicts for required senior events.

Project Graduation: June 9. Save the date!! Project Graduation is a drug and alcohol-free celebration for seniors only and it takes place at Grimsley the night of graduation. There are prizes, games, food and more.
