End of Year Exams 
The End of Year Exam dates have been posted on the Grimsley website. Each student should have been given a personalized exam schedule in their 4th period class on April 27th. Students are not able to be released early from testing. 

AP & IB exams will be from May 2nd and run through May 20th. 

The last day for regular classes will be on Thursday, May 19th. 

May 20th–27th -Students who have an exam or an EOC class are expected to be in attendance. The day will run on a modified schedule. 

May 31st–June 3rd - Makeup exam dates.

May 20th 
9:15-12:25 - 1st Period Exam 

12:35-1:04 - All students report for lunch 

1:10-4:20 - 2nd Period Exam 


May 23rd 
9:15-12:25 - 3rd Period Exam 

12:35-1:04 - All students report for lunch 

1:10-4:20 - 4th Period Exam 

 

May 24th 
9:15-12:25 - 5th Period Exam 

12:35-1:04 - All students report for lunch 

1:10-4:20 - 6th Period Exam 


May 25th - 27th 
9:15 - approximately 2:00 EOC Exam (Grab and go lunches will be available for pickup once testing is complete for the day)

 


LATE AP EXAMS start Tuesday, May 17th
IF you missed an AP Exam and have a late exam, please arrive at 7:45 AM for morning exams or 11:45 AM for afternoon exams and wait in the auditorium. Email Mr. Barnard if you have any questions. 

 

Last Day of Regular Classes: Thursday, May 19th! 
Our last day of regular classes will be this Thursday, May 19th. We will have Kona Ice here to celebrate! They are bringing 2 trucks this time during all 3 lunches. 

The following should be done by the end of the day on Thursday: 

  • Students should have all APEX work completed. 
  • All books should be returned to the library by Thursday, May 19th. 
  • Students will turn in their Chromebook and charger to their 4th period teacher on May 19th. Online students and students without a 4th period class should return their device directly to Mrs. Worrells in the library on May 19th. 


Yearbooks Distribution 
Yearbook distribution for students who have ordered/purchased books will be Wednesday, May 18th during 5th and 6th periods. Students will be called to the auxiliary gym by grade level to pick up their books. If a student is unable to pick up their yearbook on the 18th, they can pick up their book on May 19th during lunch. 

There are still some books available for purchase at www.jostensyearbooks.com. The deadline for ordering online is May 16th at 11:59 PM. Yearbooks are currently being sold for $80. Anyone who buys a yearbook by the May 16th deadline will be able to pick up their book during this distribution period. 

If any yearbooks are still available after the May 16th deadline, they can be purchased after school starting on May 18th for $90.

International Night 
We are excited to be hosting International Night on Wednesday, May 18th, from 5:30 – 8:30 PM in the Media Center. Come experience food & clothing from different cultures and learn more about your peers!! 


9th Annual Playmasters Independent Film Festival 
The 9th Annual Playmasters Independent Film Festival will be Friday, May 20th at 7 PM in the Auditorium! This event will feature several short films from Grimsley theatre students, IB Film Students, and the GHS Young Filmmakers Club. We would love for all of you to spend about an hour with us on Friday and celebrate all the hard work these students have put into these projects. Tickets are $5 at the door. Please note that some of the films may contain mild language and themes that might not be suitable for younger audience members. We hope to see you there! 

 



Project Graduation
Grimsley PTSA has a 30 year tradition of hosting a fun, drug and alcohol free event the night of graduation for our seniors so they can enjoy one final night with friends on campus.  We are gearing up for this year's event with fun plans for a carnival style event, rain or shine on June 3rd.

Student Ambassador Applications 
Student Ambassador applications are available in either the front office or at Mrs. Younts’ office in the back of the Media Center. Applications are due by Thursday, May 19th and involve an online application and 3 teacher recommendations. Interviews will take place from June 1st – 3rd in the afternoon. Please see or email Mrs. Younts with additional questions. 

 

Summer AP Boot Camp 
We are excited to announce Summer AP Boot Camp opportunities for high school students! 

Who: First time AP students who want to get a head start on learning the skills required for successful AP participation. 

What: AP Boot Camps in six categories – AP Math, AP English, AP Science, AP History, AP Social Science, AP Computer Science 

When: Weekly Boot Camps from June 13-17 through July 25-29; two hours of online instruction per day 

How: AP Boot Camps will be delivered through Canvas by successful AP teachers across the district. Students may register for AP Online Boot Camps using this link:

The AP Boot Camp is designed for high school students who have not yet taken an Advanced Placement (AP) course. The camp provides an opportunity for these students to develop an understanding of the AP curriculum and course expectations. Students will also be introduced to the skills that will be useful in their future AP courses, such as analyzing dense text, note-taking, efficient study skills, annotation, developing strong arguments, and evaluating sources. 

 


SAT Date: June 4th 
June 4th is the last date Grimsley will be hosting the SAT for this school year. Be sure to sign up on the College Board website in order to participate in this testing session.

Senior Sunset 
Senior Sunset will be held Wednesday, June 1st at 8:00pm in Jamieson Stadium. Staff members and all senior students are encouraged to attend! Sunset Slush will be provided courtesy of a PTSA grant, as well as Student Council. This is an event for Grimsley Senior students only. Students should submit pictures for the Senior Slideshow to Sara Kate Lowe’s Instagram account @sarakateslens 

 

Senior Survey 
Seniors, please check your GCS email for an important senior survey from the Counseling Office. This survey will only take 2-3 minutes and needs to be completed ASAP. If you have any questions regarding the survey, please email Mr. Brown at brownw3@gcsnc.com. 

 

Acceptances
As you receive college acceptance letters, please remember to share that information here https://forms.gle/FRg1Neom8BzAsbmD8.  You will need to submit each time you have an acceptance to input.   


Scholarship Offers
As you receive scholarship offers, please share that information with Ms. Taylor in Counseling (taylorb2@gcsnc.com).  We keep a running total of all OFFERED scholarships/grants, even if you don’t accept the offer.

June 1             Graduation Practice 9:00 AM  Coliseum  Be there by 8:30 AM. REQUIRED

June 3            Project Graduation 8 pm


Dress Code for Senior Awards, Convocation, and Graduation:
No jeans, no tennis shoes, and no casual sandals. 

If you choose to wear pants, you must wear a white dress shirt and tie with dark dress pants, dark socks, and dark dress shoes

If you choose to wear a dress, you should wear a scoop neck or v-neck white dress or appropriate nice dress underneath the gown: no bold patterns or colors that will show through the robe. If your dress is longer than the gown, it must be WHITE.

Shoes worn with dresses should be black, blue, tan or white dress shoes (no bright colors, no tennis shoes, boots, loafers, flip-flops or casual sandals). Be mindful of the height of your heels.  You will have to walk up and down stairs.  Save the 4+ inch heels for another event. 

Graduates will be “on display” to the visitors and should look proud of themselves. Caps are to be worn flat on your head with the tassel on the right. Do NOT put anything on the top of the cap.
