National Drug & Alcohol Facts Week

Shatter the myths about drug and alcohol use.

Myth: Alcohol is safer than other drugs.
Fact: Alcohol kills 6.5 times more youth than all other illegal drugs combined.

Myth: I can drink and still be in control.
Fact: Drinking impairs your judgment, the teenage brain is still developing, which impacts decision making, judgment and effective thinking.

Myth: Marijuana isn’t addictive.
Fact: Around 1 in 11 people who use marijuana could become addicted.

Myth: Smokeless tobacco does not cause cancer.
Fact: Smokeless tobacco (such as chewing tobacco and snuff) increases the risk of cancer, especially oral cancers.

Myth: Prescription pills are safe because they came from a doctor.
Fact: When misused or taken without a doctor’s prescription, these drugs can be just as harmful as illegal street drugs.
