Reapers go to Washington

From June 22nd to 26th the Green Reapers were in Washington D.C. for the National Advocacy Conference. At this conference, team members were taught how to advocate with their members of Congress. They were also introduced to the Every Student Succeeds Act, Title IV, Part A which allocates money to after school STEM programs such as robotics.

On June 23rd we went to Capital Hill to talk to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos and the offices of Senator Warren, Senator Markey, and Representative McGovern. The team also went to the White House and talked to the Office of Science and Technology Policy.

On our way home we ran into Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from New York. We gave her our elevator speech about STEM funding before she had to catch her flight to be on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert that night.

Many members of the team have been working on a website for all FIRST teams to use. It is called Find Robot Parts and can be found at http://findrobotparts.com/.

The goal is to make it easier to find the part you need without having to visit dozens of different websites.

The team would like to thank its generous contributors:
