Over the weekend the Green Reapers competed at BattleCry@WPI 19. It was a great event as always and the team had a lot of fun. The team ranked 31st out of 60 and were a member of the 12 seed alliance out of 20. Below are some of the highlights.

Visits from Politicians

On Sunday we invited many of our politicians to the event. In the picture above you can see Worcester Mayor Joe Petty, US Representative Jim McGovern, and State Representative Jim O'Day. During the weekend we also had Brian O'Connell and John Monfredo visit from the school committee. All of them were impressed at everything our team has done.

Congratulations go out to our mentor Mike Strickland! He was this years BattleCry STAR recipient. The Special Team Appreciation & Recognition (STAR) Award goes to an outstanding mentor submitted by students by writing a 500 word essay about how much they appreciate the mentor. Mike truly deserves this award and you can read his winning essay.
During the award ceremonies the team also received the Noncombatant Service Award. This judged award goes to the team with the most outstanding team spirit or support displayed during the elimination matches that had been eliminated prior to the quarterfinals.

Worcester Bravehearts Game - First Pitch

The robot will be throwing out the first pitch at the Worcester Bravehearts game on June 3rd at 4:05pm. If you are interested in attending please contact Nick Galotti so he can get you seats with the team.

Southern New England Advocacy Conference

Based on our experiences of going to the National Advocacy Conference in Washington, D.C. our team has decided to create a local conference called the Southern New England Advocacy Conference. At this event teams from across Southern New England will come together to learn how state education funding works, how to talk to politicians, and much more. The second day they will go to their state houses and meet with their representatives. The goal is to start building relationships with our members of the state house so that maybe one day we might get some legislation passed to support FIRST.

Many members of the team have been working on a website for all FIRST teams to use. It is called Find Robot Parts and can be found at

The goal is to make it easier to find the part you need without having to visit dozens of different websites.

The team would like to thank its generous contributors:
